Don't know if true but daily mail running a story that he was out on the piss till 3am.

The guy needs to stop drinking if he wants to stay at the top level.

None of us know for sure wether Rooney still has the legs in him.

A lot of you are going on about how he's going to increase our brand and our commercial revenues are going to shoot up.

The 'only' way our brand and commercial revenues are going to shoot up is if we win stuff.

If we sign Rooney, he does well, but we still finish 7th our commercial gains are going to be negligable. I don't know what planet some people are living on if they think we'll sign him and loads of fans abroad will start following us, etc.

If he does sign, which isn't a forgone conclusion, most fans of other teams will think we've signed a has been. You can paint it with as much blue tinted spectacles as you want but that is how most other fans will see it. It's only if he delivers on the pitch that it'll help us.

Wether he will or not, I dunno, he smokes and hasn't looked after himself though so I think it's a big gamble.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I think many are being naeive to think our global brand will improve through signing him. Sign a world class player in his prime and people take notice, otherwise they'll just be meh.

Too many people are getting carried away by sentiment and not through reality.

Think you're confusing tellclappers with football fans. It's a complex financial link with the brand Rooney and income generation that doesn't start with shirts and end with hairdos.

Visibility, recognition, identification and access to the brand are greater markers, how that occurs is of no consequence to business men or their bottom line. Unfortunately if we are serious about competing we need to take some calculated risks and occasionally swallow our pride, without losing our dignity.
I recognise Rooney as a bit part Kenwright fairytale but recognise too how his re-signing could be played out for the benefit of the business, as long as suntan bob is kept in a box, in a closet, in a room, in a house, in another country on a different continent...

I don't know enough about the commercial side of things to comment, but, as a footballer, I'd like him back. We need numbers and experience and quality, and Rooney helps in all those areas. He wouldn't be a regular starter, maybe, but he could be highly effective in all sorts of circumstances, and in three positions. He can control a game, and shift the pace of approach, and he knows how to score. If he's our marquee signing, I wouldn't be happy, but if he's one of a number, I'd be delighted.

Personally I can take him or leave him. 30+, and although still a decent footballer, he's on the wain (no pun intended). My mate thinks its a no brainer that we should sign him. Says he's a world class footballer. He was once I say.
Splits opinion. I'm over how it felt when he left, so I'm not bitter towards him. I'm just not totally sold on him coming back. 2 or 3 years ago maybe. Not so sure now.
