perfect example is that Rooney article on BBC at the moment, comments sections is full of tits trying to rewrite history and make out he was never that good and was only ever a mid table calibre player carried by rest of his United team mates.

the abuse this lad gets off the average clueless footy fan is criminal, sure he's nowhere near the player he used to be but he was a top top player up until at least 2010 (and probably later). United fans have got to be the most ungrateful little **** in world football, they should be permanently licking his rim after what he's done for them over the years.

Take Rooney's achievements and weight issues and imagine he was Brazilian. He would be dubbed the knock off Fat Ronaldo MK2.
Honestly baffles me how people can write Rooney off for no reason at all, but then cream themselves over someone like Rashford who is probably about 5% as good as Rooney was at his age.

They can write him off based on watching him for the last 2 years, he's been obviously on a steady decline. Rashford might not be as good now as what Rooney was at that age but he's still a really good young player

That's the thing Sage, I don't mind people saying he isn't as good now as he was say 5 years ago, but to just write the guy off altogether baffles me.

A lot of the mancs really got the hump after he took them for a ride on his last few contracts so the usual anti scouse nonsense comes out, he's probably in their top 5 greatest ever players.

Personally think he's completely finished at this level now so wouldn't like to see him here, It wouldn't be a Rooney in his prime we would be getting, no one would turn him down, it's a over the hill has been who can't positively effect a game any more

Like most things in football, your source may of been right this morning, since then a new buying team has come in and offered more money. Doesn't mean your right/wrong, just right and wrong at different times.

Rooney's agent need to get as many deals on the table as possible, present them to wayne and ask him what he wants to do. That is the agents job after all.

Im in the Rooney to Everton camp. If he doesn't come this summer, then even I, one of Rooney's biggest fans will say to swerve in future, deal is dead come the start of late august/September.

...I was told Stretford has been out in China a lot so whatever direction he takes I would think it was sorted some time ago.

Rashford right now is better than Rooney right now by a significant distance.

Im talking about people knocking rooney and his career. People forget how great he was from 17-27, he was a brilliant player, people now go on about Rashford who is nowhere near as good as rooney was. Once the hype dies down, how long is it before people destroy Rashford the way the try to with Rooney ?
 
I really hope he doesn't come here. The more I see of him the more he seems finished at the level we would be looking for.

He'd just block the path of a younger player who could potentially give more.

We should be aiming higher.

People only knock Rooney's career because he didn't reach the heights his potential should have. He never improved after the age of around 19.

That meant he was a very good player, one of the best in this league, but never world level, which when he was 16-17 looked nailed on.
