Rooney was a freak at his age, but if Rashford done what he has and was at Everton at the same age, he would have had exactly the same exposure and clubs after him as Rooney did. Rashford is at United so he blends in a bit more, if he had scored the goals he has at a lesser club the papers would be giving him more headlines.

Age means nothing right now I reckon every premier league team would take Rashford over Rooney, probably most would take Lingard over him too.

Talk sports the moose seen him play on Monday v Arsenal stated how sad Rooney looked past it, legs have gone etc onlry fit for USA or China unless BK has other ideas?:eek:

He's a decent keeper by all accounts.
 
If his legs have gone then he'll struggle in China... Having been a gambler for like 5 years and watching plenty of Chinese football, they play at a good pace on big pitches.

I'm not for or against Rooney coming back. I can see the positives and negatives of both. However seeing suggestions that he was never great which isn't true. Perception of quality is skwed that we have all been blessed to see Ronaldo and Messi play to such an unbelievable level. Hard to be seen as 'the best in the world' when these two are about.

Look at Buffon, IMO the best goalkeeper in his generation but it's easy to forget that we only class Ronaldo and Messi as truely the worlds best.

Rooney not in their ballpark, but definately the one below it for the majority of his career. Easy to forget he's won all there is to win pretty much (hell he will even get a Europa League medal this year too).

I would say Rooney was world class or there about between the age of 17-25ish something like that. The problem that is often overlooked is that Rooney was always a team player, dropping deep, going wide, playing anywhere he was asked. Now had Rooney been a selfish player like Ronaldo and refused to play anywhere but up front, I doubt he would of stagnated, some even blame Ferguson for rounding his game, when he was better as a explosive player who played naturally.

Im not talking about now, im talking about people who dismiss his attributes over his career. He is 31 now so of course a decline can be expected, but people just write him off as nothing. The Rashford bit I brought up as a case of hyping young English talent, then later on dismiss them completely. How long will it be before Rashford get discarded as only a decent player when now he is supposedly the next great thing after rooney.
 
Noticed last night he's lost all his aggression.

He was acting as the peacemaker in most situations.

I miss the angry Rooney.
 

When you read he is drinking beer till 2am on a week night it does make you question how much hunger he has left for football.

Just remembering the time he got wrecked with Jags at that wedding in the England hotel last year.

He's human, everyone gets smashed every now and then.

Although I do have a factual fear he's a big fan of Stella.
