Maybe so mate but it's all irellevant - he won't be keeping Rooney just to keep him on the bench. Man Utd is first and foremost a business, secondary they are a football club.

The Glazers arent stupid, and won't sign off on keeping hold of the club's highest earners to sit on the bench to blatantly massage the managers ego. He tried it with Schweinsteiger and had to back down, put him in the squad and eventually got rid - purely for financial reasons

I don't think getting him or not will have any affect on other signings. I think we will be aiming higher but Rooney will be extra to whatever we do.
