Koeman wants to press the opposition for 90 mins every game. As much as I love the magic of a Rooney return, the reality is that he simply does not have the stamina or legs for our style of play.

We complain about ROM being lazy so let's solve that by buying someone slow who want last the 90 & could take 3 months to get anywhere near the fitness level needed which by that time we could be out of the Europa.

I have to ask the question. You could say Rooney's slow, (which im not sure he is, just not quick), I get that.

Has anyone ever really thought Rooney was lazy? I've never thought that. I'm sure he's always been one to close down his man?

Well look at the facts
Koeman has said he would improve us
Walsh has said he would drive to Manchester to collect him.

Rooney has been dropped by England again
Southgate said he wasn't playing enough games
He stated in his press conference he wants to go to the World Cup in Russia.
He won't get there playing in China
China has slapped a 100 % tax on foreign players transfer fees , so that makes china even more unlikely.

In the past Rooney has said he will only ever play for Everton or United in the PL
Doesn't leave many options for Rooney.

If the finances are right i.e transfer fee either nominal or 10/15 m and wages of around 100 k I can see this happening wether we like it or not.
I'm personally undecided

if we also get another decent back up to Romelu, like Iheancho, or willian at Sociedad, it's not a terrible move. It becomes problematic if he is Roms replacement.

He's either staying at United or moving to us, I suspect its the latter and I have warmed to the idea somewhat given how utterly dross most of our squad is. If nothing else he can help youngsters and provide a draw to other signings, he is still high profile enough to be considered a bit of a statement, if not a full one. I'm sure he'd have a resurgence here too. As others have said though he needs to be one of many signings, not say a Ross or Rom replacement but one of two or three for those positions.

I'd be disappointed if we pay a fee. If Wayne is adamant he'll only play for us or them. Mourinho will be desperate to get his £230k per week (or whatever) off the wage bill.. surely that puts us in the driving seat.
