Ah Santorini ....beautiful place.

It's irrevalant to you, if the management of the club consider the financial draw acceptable then why should you care?

Cos the money ain't yours. The same way when you go home at the end of the month and your missus has budgeted /spent it

Cos it affects me if its a bad decision. 250k pw is £13m per YEAR - 3 year deal = £39m signing .. lot of money that could improve us better elsewhere(IMHO!)

To be fair - we could ship him off after 1-2 years to China for a 50m transfer fee so the wages are offset. My opposition is more in regards to what benefits he actually brings by joining.

Rooney would be a very poor signing particuarly on 250k pw
If he comes on a free then that runs out at £12 milllion a year of £24 million for 2 years
Hardly mass

but it's £39 over 3 years
Brings in excellent experienced player and leaves a cash wedge for Gylfi and Olivier

The lad may no longer be in his prime but he is still ten times better than anything else we've got going forward (Rom aside), so I don't see the problem with this deal.

It's not like we're splurging £35million on a rubbish Championship player like Andy Carroll.

I'm not sure that the 'money isn't yours' argument holds up. It's not, obviously, but in a way it is, as fans we are stakeholders and want our club which is still not as rich as the richest, to spend wisely. The anger over money wasted on the likes of McGeady and Niasse shows that we cannot just shrug off poor purchases. Enough of the wrong kind of purchase will not only impact on our performance but the long term viability of our club as a top club. We've been in that situation before and it is scary. That is why I oppose Rooney's return; I don't hate him but I can't see the value for money. McGeady is apparently gone, but to buy Rooney puts more pressure back on the pie cart budget.

I think what you're failing to understand is that we have someone like Moshiri signing off on it if it happens and so he will know exactly what's affordable, also he will not be forcing any players on Koeman so if he comes he will most definitely be wanted by the manager, and finally Koeman doesn't suffer anyone so if Rooney isn't up to it he will not be involved. I'd be more inclined to side with all those at the top end of our club than with my own calculations on quantity spent and quality brought in.

@macdog This is applicable to you too.

Don't agree and to compare Wayne with Mceady?
