Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

I think what you're failing to understand is that we have someone like Moshiri signing off on it if it happens and so he will know exactly what's affordable, also he will not be forcing any players on Koeman so if he comes he will most definitely be wanted by the manager, and finally Koeman doesn't suffer anyone so if Rooney isn't up to it he will not be involved. I'd be more inclined to side with all those at the top end of our club than with my own calculations on quantity spent and quality brought in.

Oh yea im all for them splashing the cash as they see fit just hope theres not many mistakes. Lord knows theres precedent for many clubs in similar positions wasting so much money on big signings that failed

I think there will always be mistakes and we've had plenty throughout the years but we're just in a better position to absorb them now. We'll see though. I'm extremely hopefully/expectant that Pickford, Klaassen, Sandro, and Keane will all become important for us for years to come beyond their current contracts.

That Rooney's better than Valencia and Kone is irrelevant as they weren't taking up £250k per week in wages. I've loved our transfer business so far but if reports are true that we'll be paying Rooney £250k per week for at least 2 years then this move seems like our first transfer mistake. Many objective commentators have assessed Rooney as he is now and I haven't seen one of them say anything other than his legs are gone. Are they all really wrong? Coming back to us is unlikely to have a magical effect upon a player who undoubtedly has an incredible footballing brain but simply can't get his body to do what is used to.
A one year loan with Utd paying a chunk of his wage I'd take all day but a transfer for at least 2 years @ £250k per week for a player objective commentators are saying is finished at Premiership level seems crazy. He'll generate publicity that's for sure but I can't see why we'd agree to contribute so much to his gambling fund when the money could be used better elsewhere. Anyway I'm overjoyed with what we've done up to now so if this is sealed I'll cheer the old codger on and save the I told you so until the complaining starts.

'Hi Farhad'
'Hi Wayne,sorry about the mess.Take a seat'

This is a terrible deal. Consider us now trying to attract any champions league calibre players or retaining Lukaku / Barkley... Now we've got no chance...

Some good points there, many I agree with, I personally think he will give us 6-8months before he just breaks down, thats if he remains fit for those 6-8 months.

Its massive, massive money, but I would like to hope we would protect ourselves in the deal, lets hope, but if not and I know how stupid this will sound, but the worst that can happen is that we basically spunk 26m down the drain. I trust Ronny, hes shown that he doesnt care for ego, if you dont perform, you dont play.

Ive said it once and I will say it again, we shouldnt worry about how much the players cost or how much we are paying them, judge the performances on the pitch. Not the way I would spend 26m, but then and im sure people are sick of hearing this, but its really not my 26m, so *shrug*.

I don't think it sets a good precedent to sign a player way past his prime on 250k a week. If it's a loan deal and we pay half or less of that wage, then I am not really opposed.

I dont think other footballers view Rooney like fans.

I would think they respect what hes done in the game and as said, he really does have a wonderful footballing brain.

But yes, contract renewals will be fun, not to mention trying to sign new players, "But, but you pay Rooney 250k a week", good luck Fams.
