2017/18 Wayne Rooney

Quiet game yesterday but he's been our most consistently good performer this season.

Because of who he is the drama queens and media will seemingly always polarise the debate. He's either fantastic or cack, we should either build the team around him or bench him forever.

He's just a very good footballer who will have some good games and some bad ones. Finding a system is going to be tricky but it isn't impossible.

The facts.

I love rooney but looks like you guys are facing the same problem we at united had for the last couple of years

He has clearly lost the pace he had which was a main weapon of his and because of that he lost the explosiveness he once had. Now of course you don’t need pace to be a class striker/10, as ibra and bergkamp and the likes have shown but rooney has never taken care of his body like ibra has. He looked laboured whenever he played the whole game

For us this really affected us in LvG’s final season and beginning of Mourinho s first season with us. He was always incompetent when he played upfront but he always did the basic stuff because of which he would be undroppable for LvG. He would pitch in with the odd goal or assist in some games which will give him another few games to start. Problem was he wasn’t bad. He was probably one of the best performers but the team in general would perform better when martial or rashford played as CF instead of him.

Last season he had a poor start but still had a goal and 2 assist but frankly it glossed over the fact that him and ibra meant that we were as fast as a 1940s ford car. Mourinho lost a game at Watford because of this (not only him but he didn’t help when he lost possession in the play which led to one of their goals). Since that game he was used sporadically in cups and he was useful at times as a sub. We genuinely improved as a team once he was benched. His problem is he knew what to do, but he didn’t have the pace or energy to do it anymore

Looking at comments here it might be something similar for you guys now too. He would always give the impression that he was the best player for us but our general improvement was quite visible once he left (and tbf once Zlatan left for lukaku too). I was actually surprised you guys bought him especially with Rom leaving.

So lads, who do we reckon?

Think he needs the bench personally but in reality that won't happen. Just think that he needs to take a breather for a bit and start again, especially after the drink driving stuff.

Im shocked we sold Lukaku and replaced him with Rooney too. Its madness.
