2017/18 Wayne Rooney

Thought there looked some nice potential in his link up play with Klassen. Two players who are intelligent and see things early, made a nice change from Ross.

If we sign Gylfi and Giroud that really would give us a multi faceted attack (albeit lacking pace)

Wayne has upset some mancs with the following remarks:

“I was a bit disappointed not to play in Europe for Everton before but now I have a chance. Obviously I won the trophy last year so I’m hoping as a club we can go far and, you never know, try to win it. It would be even better."
I read that a while back. Just after he signed. Was delighted with it. Stuff the Mancs.

Sets the tone in the dressing a statement like that.

Who was the feller sat next to Rooney on the last day at Birkdale, I think he had black hair and a moustache, the feller that is!
Wayne was showing Jags and the other boys, something funny on his phone.

Had a crap game against those dinner ladies for sure, funny the way everyone comes out of the cracks after he had a turd game but wer nowere to be seen when he plonked one in from 35.

It was a friendly game against some Kenyans....

(They were Kenyans right?)

I honestly don't think he's going to be this great revelation of a player from us. Unpopular as it may be it's just my opinion

I think the truth is that nobody knows.

A great player at the very highest level through almost all of his career. ability not in question.

Has already had a full playing career given that he started so young . His body shape is more bull dog than greyhound and may find it difficult to retain the athletic ability to compete at Premiership level.

Seems to be highly motivated to make the return a success and we know that he can contribute to a team from a number of different positions.

His lifestyle at times has been questioned... however that is based on hearsay and just about every manager he played under has had nothing but good to say about his professionalism.

There may be others, but they are the pros and cons as I see them and I think time only will give us the answer.

I think we may be happy with his performances.

Absolute sentimental nonsense bringing him back.

No-one on here, not even those who are still clinging onto the hope of the move being a good one, can even say where he should play with any conviction.

If he is still such a great player, he should be the first on the team sheet.

But he is not.

Rooney is clearly in decline and even his supporters on this thread are talking about shoehorning him in somewhere because of who he is, not what he offers (which is negligible).

What a ludicrous situation when we're rebuilding a team of more youthful prospects for the future.

Apart from the fact he is Wayne Rooney - with all the tear-jerking tosh that goes with it - what on earth is he doing here?

He is a cheap jibe-inducing parody of his former self, was a sad waste of space last night and only concerned with just trying to be the Rooney of 13 years ago.

This is not going to end well. For Rooney, or for us the longer we persist with him.
Couldn't have summed it better myself.
