2017/18 Wayne Rooney

I miss Lukaku more every single game that goes by.

I'm sure Rooney will improve but he needs to relax and keep his head up. Just stop doing crazy 40 yard passes back to the bloody defenders and get the ball going upfield, get involved.

Those forty yard passes have been the main part of his game for the past two years and I doubt they're going away. I actually thought he did alright tonight by the poor standards he's set himself recently. Shame it was against some team no one had ever heard of from Slovakia.

Won't k lacquer he has left until about the end of September, he always needs a good run of games to find form, our early season schedule should give us a much clearer idea what we have with Rooney and what he has left.

I enjoyed watching him last night. His tight control is better than anyone else's on the pitch. He tired the last 20 but still produced the quality turn and feed for Klassen to set up the goal.

Personally feel if you took him out of this team for another striker all the other attacking players would click a lot better.
The sentimental idiocy of bringing back a player who almost every objective voice in the game said was finished will cost us dearly in the first part of the season.
The hype and wages mean he'll be played regardless of form. He'll be tried in different positions, just like at Utd, before eventually RK will conclude he's a liability and drop him. Then the younger more vibrant players will start to click going forward with more pace and purpose.

I see why we brought him back and I think he's got a part to play but right now he's not being selected on form which is a worry. Hopefully after Gylfi + striker come in we'll have more options to rotate him away.

Maybe I watch hoping for him to do well, and others are continuously looking for the opposite. I didn't see the ball bouncing off him.

I think the opposite is happening, no one is "hoping" for an Everton player to be crap, and people are desperate to convince themselves he played well. His touch was all over the place. Let's just say that I hope that's his worst game for us.

That's it lads, throw the toys out of the pram because he looked poor (just like pretty much everyone else on the pitch incidentally). Ye lets judge him based on glorified training ground game when everyone was off pace and still in pre-season mode because that makes so much sense doesn't it. Thats a far more sensible why to judge him then say, a few premier league games isn't It?! Jesus wept, some of you have zero self restraint.
