There isn't really a place for the hard man in the modern game. Why sacrifice footballing ability to accommodate a guy with a nasty streak? You want a good athlete who can pressure the opposition and still knock the ball about when you have it.

Who would I have? Yaya Toure, ha. Realistically speaking, someone like Zlatko Junuzovic from Werder Bremen or Radja Nainggolan from Cagliari would be ideal and I think Everton could attract them. The latter is a Belgian so perhaps Fellaini or Mirallas could put in a good word.

Marrone is an interesting option. He doesn't have the sort of experience as the two I mentioned but his potential is obvious.

Junuzovic is valued at £5m on Transfermarkt. Nainggolan has a bigger price tag of £12m but he'd be worth every penny.

He's a good player Barton and he has matured in recent years, he would be an excellent signing for us. It's a shame that signing him remains highly unlikely, as he's exactly what we need.

Hes playing at Championship level for a reason an has played there before. Hes a bottom end premier league player at best. I really dont see what people are seeing with him ability wise, hes bog average.

The OP suggesting that we have let easy points slip is a little bit harsh IMHO. There are no cert wins. Some of the new boys have spend serious money and beefed things up.....ask Man City about easy victories...and watch out for our trip to Cardiff on Saturday.
