We have a really difficult game coming up next. They will be desperate to bounce back after their thumping , and their fans will be well up for it (first game back at Elland Rad). If we lose then I hope that the doom mongerers don't come out in force.
Let's give him a chance and see how he does.

To be fair mate when threads are started like this after only one game then it's hard to have a pop at lads who come out slagging him off if we lost at Leeds.

Good comeback second half for him, that first half performance was dire and we were all over the gaff, up against someone with quality it may have been a different outcome.

Wouldn't say the 1st half was dire mate 15-20 minutes we were doing alright until that clown at the back put us a goal down then our weak squad mentality kicked in automatically and heads dropped.

What I would say also is that its the first game in a new formation/system.

People are almost demanding instant results as a way of "buying them over" to the manager when the reality is this is a transition season and largely still the same squad of dross we've had for years still getting time on the pitch.

Fans need to be patient and stop demanding the world after 5 minutes - the boo's at HT were embarassing unless they were aimed solely at Keane.

The first 15 mins we were alrightish without really creating anything.

12 games in any Manager has to be judged on as we supposedly have easy games - no game is easy in the prem , but when you play any of the top four - that's when it tells you how good we are - we need more signings .....

We're not Man City though mate we aint going to be 1 goal up with 10 shots on target with players like Coleman, Townsend and Gray in the starting 11.

Expectations need to be realistic - next summer is the big one/acid test when we can actually spend money on better quality of players.

Until then the fans have to be patient.

Obviously too soon for this type of thread, but I understand it's tongue in cheek.

I think Southampton are nailed on for relegation, yet that first half saw us look far worse than them in every area.

A better side would have been three up going into the break. And that's the problem - we aren't going to be playing Southampton every week.

Yep, said that myself mate, we were poor first half and up against a team with a bit more quality it could have been a different outcome.

It's not.

Or, to be clear, it should be, but the reality is Benitez doesn't have the luxury of a season where Everton finish 14th or whatever but the seeds for something better in the future are planted.

He's top 10, pushing Europe by Christmas, or he's toast. We need to acknowledge that reality.

I disagree. That was a banana skin fixture - the ones we always slip on.

To get it out of the way with all the Benitez stuff on top of that - and with such aplomb in the end - made it an impressive win.

I think we'll be around top 10 but its deluded to think the owners would even contemplate sacking him for finishing say 11th-12th after spending £1.5m this summer.

It was clear the board wanted a period of stability with Ancelotti until we move to BMD and I see no different with Benitez.

Going to be a lot of dissapointed fans who are banking on him gone before his contract expires - only way he's sacked is if he's in the bottom 6 like Silva/Koeman but I think he's too thick skinned/pragmatic to end up in that sort of sticky situation.
