Well done Rafael

I disagree. That was a banana skin fixture - the ones we always slip on.

To get it out of the way with all the Benitez stuff on top of that - and with such aplomb in the end - made it an impressive win.

We lost games like that regularly under Ancelotti, so it was a good win... but you can't ignore that first half. This is still the same bunch of abject cowards at the end of the day, and that game is out of sight after 45 minutes against marginally better opposition. See the United friendly for details.

We have to start games well and I don't trust these cowards to do it any given week. And unfortunately, the reality is Benitez will shoulder the blame when they don't.

3 points due to Benitez doing very well with the change in approach/tempo in the second half. He was obviously under a load of pressure and he handled it with dignity, calmness an no little humour.

It'll take time to impose discipline on this group. And he needs to get his own players in.

But a start has been made.

Tell you what, it's funny how gutted the hope we lose crowd are today haha love it.
Read some belters on here today, some of my personal favourites being how the win was totally down to the players and fans and had nothing to do with the Manager. Doesn't get much more desperate than that. Watch how fast that changes when we lose one, it will definitely be down to the Manager then.

Thanks for the laughs lads and well done Benitez.

Anything bad, blame Rafael, anything good praise anyone else, pathetic really.
We lose that game yesterday under Carlo as his in game management was none existent, Rafael had them back out in the second with belief, and his use of Gray/Richarlison in the second was top management.

Yep, spot on mate. The last time we came from being behind at half time and won was back in 2015 against West Brom when Martinez was in charge.

Already done something on day 1 that the previous 4 Managers couldn't in 6 years.
