Plenty of bad defensive performances that season too

The difference was the crapness of the bottom half teams in comparison to this season and last season

We were able to force our way past a lot of poor sides to the point that we could afford to conceed some goals

Hence why a record points total only got 5th

We rode our luck that season and the chickens came home to roost the following season
