This is ridiculous.

1) 'You can't just pick your fixtures for your argument'. You've then just picked three decent results we've had. Of course the top 4 would be ok with those results, in the same way they would not be ok with our results v Watford City at home and Swansea away. They would not be ok with our inconsistency and tendency over the last few seasons to draw too many games.

2) depends how you define massive pressure. Davek was talking about drawing to WBA a result that would leave us behind Rodgers' Liverpool a manager currently under huge pressure despite comprehensively out performing Martinez over the last 2 seasons. Yes he has had money and with that comes expectation but last time I looked our motto was Nil Satis. Draw to WBA then we'd have to beat Liverpool to stop them going 4 ahead of us. This is one of the prem's poorest Liverpool sides as well.

3) I'm talking about historically being mid table which for me is outside of the top 4 where we have resided a lot of the time. It's great being fifth but it wasn't good enough for Moyes and I don't see how we improve as a club if we don't aim higher.

4) exactly right, Spurs were woeful yet we just didn't even turn up for the third season in a row under Martinez at WHL. We set out for a 0-0 and got it, another day we lose 4-0 the amount of chances we conceded. That is not top 4 behaviour.

5) a statement for intent for the top 4 is not once s season home wins v United or Chelsea. It's beating poor sides home and away when the opportunity presents. We were good enough to beat Watford Swansea and Spurs but bottled it with non performances in two and cowardly finishing in the the other. Not top 4 behaviour.

6) we could easily be in the top given our fixtures. 6 extra points from the 3 winnable games I just mentioned puts us there easily with a game in hand. It's that sort of mentality exactly which stops us doing anything of note ever. 'Oh the fixture list looks tough, 6th would be ok' 'oh the top 4 are still left in the cup we won't win it'. Absolute utter rubbish. Why bother turning up at all?

7) daveks post said a draw to WBA was s good result, I was arguing why it's not. This is a team with quality all over the pitch yet we sleep walk ourselves into mid table because our attitude is rubbish. We have a great defence and a lot of firepower. We show that when we turn over top teams with ease at Goodison. Then a poor team like Watford roll up and we don't bother turning up.

We are supposedly in good form right now and relatively injury free. The top 6 are supposedly creaking. If we come out of this spell still behind them in the table what happens when our form dips and we get injuries and those sides suddenly hit form? We should have rammed home the advantage even with our tough fixture list because easy sides at home are not bankers under Martinez.

If people are happy with a season of 7/8th then fine but Moyes was churning that out with front lines of Kilbane Bent Osman Beattie McFadden. Why is it unreasonable to expect Lukaku Barkley Mirallas Deulofeu Stones and McCarthy to produce better?

We are under performing end of. Like I said I hope Martinez puts us on a long winning run but to do that you have to be beating WBA. If you're happy with mid table as long as the football has some nice passing then you've lost the plot.

In short we simply need to change our attitude and we'd beat any team because we are Everton and our we've got a Latin motto...

What a boring moaner you are. Your hatred of Martinez clear confuses your brain so much it's stops it making any sense when there's a keyboard in sight.

Win against West Brom and most fans would say we have had a decent start to the season, points/results/league position. Lose against West Brom and many will decide we have had a poor start and are underachieving.

A single game and a single result doesn't define the season, so in reality which ever way the result goes it's too early to be making judgements or predictions about our 'season'.

.....it's almost a case of that for every game, though. I appreciate we are at the start of a season but never has the expression 'you're only as good as your last game' been true as it is these days.

I don't know if it's been posted on here but this lad will have a fair interest in our game tonight

I clearly don't hate Martinez, I'm iust looking for him to prove he's on the right track after last season. Some people act as though he's just won us the title. I think we've a squad capable of kicking on to better things this season, what's wrong with wanting to see that come to fruition? A draw v West Brom feels like a missed opportunity to me. Hardly the views of an extremist, half the time I'm getting blasted for things I've not even written.

Hoping we can get the win tonight to round off a very decent start then kick on for a sustained top 4 challenge. If people don't think that's a realistic aim for the season fair enough.
