Barkley has his ups and down during a match. As expected when you are 19.
Thought Jagielka had a very poor performance, hopefully he has touch his bottom level.
Baines was quiet in 1 half, but more himself in second half. Two goals was terrific.
Lukaku is our new target man, strong and an eye for goal

Performance:
Howard - not much to do, couldn't be blamed for the goals : 7
Coleman- quiet, not at his level : 6
Distin - average.: 7
Jagielka - must improve big time. Poor passings : 4
Baines - get his point because of two wonderful goals : 8
Mirallas - quiet first half, blossomed when Lukaku got on: 7
Barry - did his work quietly : 7
Osman - not his best start of the season, bench next?: 5
Naismith - tried to get into scoring positions, much of his time going inside trying to link with Jelavic. Better than Osman : 6
Barkley - so much talent. Glimpses of what we can get, but lost the ball in danger positions : 7
Jelavic - same performance than the last 20 games : 5
Lukaku - what can I say ? : 8
McCarthy - not his best game, gave away a penalty. Not worth 13 mill at all : 6.

RM : Did changes before the second half. Some wanted Dela, but Ovideo is more reliable defensive. : 7

A good reflection on the p[layers performances....not sure about Barkley losing the ball in danger areas!!!! Think this is becoming a bit of a sound bite now. I may be wrong but could you tell us these danger areas he lost the ball. Are they the same areas that Jags, Coleman, Osman, Barry lost the ball or gave it away?

I wouldn't even use that qualifier. Cahill was a legend for us. Ballon d'or nominee and wholeheartedly committed to the club for every second of his time here.

Him and Duncan Ferguson are the only two I'd use the term legend for in the modern era and feel comfortable doing so.

Ditto.... Bainsey is surely knocking on the door of that status as well imo.

Penalty, poor tackle from McCarthy

TBF we were under the cosh because of Jags awful play, he couldn't exactly pull out of a tackle because the lid would have scored. McCarthy has to replace Osman now!

Just back from the game with the missus and i tell you, that result was sweet as a nut as them silly southerners would say for the fact my missus is a Hammer and i was sat amongst them today, brilliant!. ;D Those West Ham fans sat around me seem some of the thickest ive ever heard, some of the **** they were spouting. 'they love a long en out of the back do Everton', pot, kettle, black springs to mind!.

Must admit, first 10 mins we looked comfortable on the ball but not really threatening at all, then West Ham took over and went in 1 nil at the break.

Thought Martinez did the right thing with bringing on Lukaku at half time and me personally i'd of brought on McCarthy for Ossie as he was utter garbage all game!. As it was Naismith made way but what a difference Lukaku made!. With him, you could give it to feet, in-behind, over the top, any which way and we looked a real threat due to him, this lad is just on another level ability wise compared to the likes of Jela & Kone!.

We looked more purposefull going forward with Lukaku's height, power and pace and second half we well on top and probably just shaded the game IMO after West Ham won the first half for me, which was hard to take sat there in the Bobby Moore end, believe me!.

Another good win but for me we still need to cut out these silly indecision's at the back that are either nearly costing us or are costing us. Why Jags didn't deal with the ball in the box with Petric breathing down his neck i'll never know, and then McCarthy must of thought he'd heard a whistle as he just stopped closing down, then half heartily started closing down but it was too late, mistimed tackle, penalty.

got to give Bainesy a mention as his 2 strikes were different class, very Sheedy esq of when Sheeds scored a free kick in one corner at Luton, had to retake it and put it in the other corner!. Brilliant strikes by a brilliant player.

watching some of the highlights again, just noticed after Baines' second goal when he's celebrating in front of the Everton fans, a kid jumped out of the stands, hugged him and tried to dive back in before security wrapped him up.

Seriously?! Osman was shocking today, didnt do anything good, gave the ball away alot, again!. McCarthy came on and we looked alot more solid in midfield.

Jags wasnt at his best today i must admit, misplaced passes, not dealing with balls first time, as like there pen, should of just put it into touch. McCarthy after that must of thought a whistle had blown as he seemed to stop and keep looking at the ref before making a stupid tackle and giving the pen away.

But it was Lukaku's introduction that made all the difference, He really does look a player, pace, power, strength, height, eye for goal, he could be the difference for us this season, seemed to bring the best out of Mirallas and Barkley second half though as they were both subdued to me first half!.

And Bainesy second half, class!. Nuff said!. (y)

I think RM will want kone to get some game time against Fulham. Maybe bench again for Lakaku Incase we need him! Jelavic shouldn't even be making the bench moving forward.

GOT in office-speak shocker!

Baines - get his point because of two wonderful goals : 8
Lukaku - what can I say ? : 8

They're both easy 10's, kidda.

Aye, I only meant it in a trophyless kind-of-way...but if we're not counting on the player to win a trophy with us, then yes, he's a bloody legend!

Osman can be awful at times, but he also has craft about him and is always looking for the ball and can often come up with a vital goal or assist.

Whilst McCarthy looks more solid and better in possession, I can't see him creating anything, or driving forward with the ball or making any sort of attacking impact or big defensive tackles/interceptions.

Ok not every player can be creative but we already have Barry and Gibson who do mccarthy's job, but better

What exactly did osman do in either this or the chelsea game mate, and if you say the cross for jela then well it was well overhit and jela done wonders making anything of it

Our first away league win since 2nd January (Newcastle away) and the first time we've come from behind to win a game since the same match.

Roberto remains 2 points up on Davey's points tally for the corresponding fixtures last season.
