What’s in a name ?

I can barely bring myself to say this but my sister has a son called Edward which is bad enough. But they decided to call him Bear, now everyone but me and my Mrs calls him Bear. Winds me up something rotten. The swear rules won’t let me describe them all how I want to but I’m ashamed to be related to them for it.

My daughter goes to pre school and there's a kid who's actual name not nickname is Bear.

When we pick up the grandkids from school we are surrounded by kids called Archer,Zero,Eugene Ada and Grace. I fear we my never see anymore Brians,Dereks,Grahams, Susans or Janes for another couple of generations, long after I'm brown bread!

I heard a couple of years ago that there were only 5 or so babies named Gary that particular year.

I worked with a lad called Christopher who intentionally shortened his name down to Topher and pronounced it so it sounded like toe fur.

Not a fan of the superfluous apostrophe e.g. Tay'la Ti'ami, Ch'ardannay, or any double-barreled girls name that incorporates "mae" or "leigh/lee".

I also have an unreasonable prejudice against people who call their kids Jayden, Kayden, Brayden etc. , as well as stupid spellings of common names e.g. Khloe, Rebekka, Charlee, Jayceon, Jaxson.
