What are you currently listening to?

It was a DJ set. It was good but I've enjoyed some of his others more. For example his set at Sonar 2012 is one of my favourites. I know it was 3 years ago but I was hoping for a similar vibe to it.

Was his set at Parklife quite upbeat?

Started off quite upbeat but then descended into moody techno, which is always lovely.

And then Jamie xx came on to some Gospel music mixed into Kanye West - Good Life and all hell broke loose.

Hmm, sounds similar to the set he did on Friday night. The girl I was with was moaning a bit about the music a bit so we ended up chatting for ages and missing a fair bit of the music. Would have gotten my end away too had she not need to be somewhere the next morning. FFS.

Due to insomnia last night I was just browsing You Tube and came across Neu - and I liked what I heard. Are the group's you've mentioned similar ?

oh yes mate. In Germany there was an excellent prog rock scene between late-60's and late-70's. Up there with the best ol' blighty had to offer. More focus on soundscapes, avant-garde and synths/FX, less on traditional songsmithery (tho' some classic 4-minute rock songs were made too).

NEU, Can, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk (the pre-electronic music phase), Harmonia, Cosmic Jokers, Embryo, Amon Düül and many more. You might've heard of this scene from the term "Krautrock" and through its pioneering of the motorik drumming style, in Germany at the time it was generally known as "kosmische Musik".
