Hi

Can anyone help me ?

Not long ago I asked for advise on buying a record player.

I cant remember for the life of me who replied etc etc..

I messaged one or two and project essential seems to pop up.

I've seen a Rega 1 pop up online for around £230 on clearance, though the 2 looks smart.

Does anyone have any advice ?

I've already sorted an amp and speakers.. I just want something decent to play my records.

Any help n advice will be greatly appreciated ?

Thank you ?

Much depends on what amp and speakers you have and then whether you want your turntable to have a moving magnet or moving coil cartridge.

So, really difficult to give you specific advice.

But, as in general Rega turntables are very good particularly in an entry level system.

I have a Rega 6 with Ania moving coil cartridge. That costs about £1600 . It's definitely not the best available and I aspire to get an LP12 ( Linn Sondek) .

However a basic Rega 1 could be fine for you . It depends on a number of factors

1. How much vinyl you've got and how much you are going to play it. Vinyl is really expensive and if you don't already have a decent collection ( most of mine is from 70s,80s and 90s) it is going to cost you a lot of money to build one
2. The quality of your amp and speakers
3. Your budget.

However to answer your question an RP1 is a good place to start in your hifi journey.

When you decide to upgrade you should get a decent chunk of money back. Make sure you keep all the manuals , leads and box.

Hi mate

Nice one for the reply.

I've ended up buying the rega 1, got it cheap for 230

This for a quick cheap amp

And those for just a quick set up

Again, its just something for now.

Nice one, I appreciate the text back.

I will let you know how I get on. ??

One of the top three Kinks' songs in my useless opinion - absolutely outstanding writing. I used to think that it was a satire on suburban life, but I think it can also be seen as almost a paean to suburbia. Whatever the meaning, I love it.
