Found myself doing a lot more of that, as in batch cooking and winging it with extras to bulk up. Invariably works well and especially with the frozen pastry to make the pies or pasties. Pearl barley is fantastic.
 
Boiled potatoes (which have got a bit of a bad reputation, but with plenty of butter and pepper are lovely), cheesy potato and Branston pasty, carrots, and runner beans kindly donated by a neighbour, very sweet they were. Made some jam tarts, had some with custard.
