When I was a kid ours used to do battered beefburgers which were awesome , and who didn't roll in there half cut and come out with a bag of scraps , which at times ended on the floor and not munched.

The left over batter bits etc, some of the most tasty pieces came in the form of scraps. Usually bought just before the chippy closes for the night.

Back in the day , they were free , but we are talking over 30years ago.

When we were young our local chippy would serve you a tray of chips with peas water (pea juice) and scraps. Couple of years later my mum worked in the same chippy, used to be ace when she was working until closing time as she’d bring all the leftovers home x

Sweet & sour chicken, boiled rice, large chips. If I'm feeling flash, add in a chicken and sweetcorn soup - costs about £13 and good for two people.

Don't mind a large fish, large chips and mushy peas either, and that's about £9 and also plenty for two.

An Indian would be a rare treat because the prices have gone through the roof. One chicken jalfrezi, one cheese naan, one pilau rice, two poppadoms with mint sauce and mango chutney serves two but comes in at a whopping £21 round here now.

Chinese still the way to go for value.

All real. Irish chippys are different to English.

I've never had better chips from a chippy/chipper than I had when I lived in Dublin.

That is just some crap quality formed chicken, some rice and some cheap chips though. It's hardly great value for 13
