There are only 2 things I miss about the UK; going to the match and proper English chippy chips. In 16 years as close as I've found was one place in Cape Town but everywhere else has been a washout. In days of old it was either:
• mince pie, chips and mushy peas
• battered sausage, chips, bread and butter

My local chippy has just started a chippy tapas menu.Choose 3 or 5 items for £5 each,choices are scampi,korean chicken,chicken nuggets,Thai fish cake,mushy pea fritterbattered sausage,squid,halloumi,chicken goujons,plaice goujons and a couple of others. Majority home made. Really tasty,if you think it's dear,they charge £15 .50 for haddock and chips. Oh I live in Cheltenham ...
