What Was Worse to Watch? This, or the Smith Era?

There's one hell of a massive elephant in the room blaming the sale of Arteta and Pienaar, the fact that we were playing almost as bad at times against shíte opposition when they were still here. I'm not saying that losing and Pienaar has had no effect, but it's not necessarily the only reason why we are playing so badly.

Honestly, I think Arteta was doing much while he was here anyways. I think right now the players are just playing badly, they are aging and we are missing too many through injury.

Stop blaming injurys,We were playing just as bad when everyone was fit

"This" being this season you mean ? Well you might have a point. But it hasn't been like "this" for the last 10 years - people have short memories. Whereas the Smith era was all sh1te, sorry, "disappointing", to use his favourite word to describe most performances under him. When we went behind under the Smith the game was invariably over. There is no comparison. And we had some good players then as well.

name them.

moyes may indeed be getting stale/pissed off but who was the last major signing on a perm contract (gibson excused)? In that time pienaar, arteta, beckford yakubu lescott (sorry for mentioning) plus others i cant recall, so we are losing quality players and have been replacing with very mediocre squad players.
For me, the decline started when lee carsley left. He gave so much to ours side, quality spoiler of a player. I heart lee.

I agree with the last bit of this. Lee Carsley has been the most important player in the David Moyes era, he was just class at what he did. I've never seen someone who gives more effort into a game and he had some quality as well. He has never been replaced and when he played, some of the box to box work he did was incredible and unnoticed. Definately missed him since he went, I think if he was still there at the start of last season when we expected top 4 then we would have been a lot closer with him in the team.

Duncan Ferguson, John Collins, Nick Barmby, Olivier Dacourt, Kevin Campbell, Don Hutchison, David Unsworth, David Weir, Tommy Gravesen, etc.

Those players are debatable. At best. Except for Hutch. And when we go behind under moyes the game is lost. I don't know where you get your logic from. When we go ahead these days the game is lost. Wake up.

FFS. So it's "debatable at best" whether Duncan Ferguson was a good player or not. Same for John Collins. Same for the rest of the ones that I mentioned. Think it's you who might need to wake up a bit lad if you think they were average.

I "get my logic" from having watched Everton since Harry Catterick was manager. So I think I know what I'm talking about when comparing the Smith and Moyes eras.
