Whatever happened to normal names ?

The problem with some parents is that they're so immature that they can't see how selfish they're being by giving a child such ludicrous names. They don't see their new born as the tiny human being that he/she actually is, who will In reailty will have to live with the consequences of their parents stupidity for the rest of their lives or until he/she can legally get it changed.

No, these extremely juvenile and selfish individuals only see THEIR baby. A cute little thing for them to show off to their friends and family. One can only hope that the child doesn't get bullied too much and grows up to be well adjusted and a good deal more mature then their idiotic parents.

over-stating the importance of a name, i think mate...kids get bullied for all sorts of reasons, if he's a popular kid because he's funny or energetic his classmates won't be fussed what his name is, be it a Steve, Mark or Paul or something like Merlin, Darwin or Gulliver.

A lad I know has just become a dad again to a little boy... they’ve named him santi

Don’t get me wrong... people should happily call their kids whatever they want but I was just musing over this current tend of outdoing others with your own rarely used name.

A work colleague was telling us the other day about her friends new baby called ‘Marlow’.

I’m sorry, but that’s a dogs name. I had to contain my laughter when she was taking about how cute it was.

That’s a perfectly fine name...if you’re of Spanish heritage.

Its also the name of the town that's 4 miles from my front door!

..saw a kid called Jackson a few weeks ago.

I associate names like Tyson and Brodie more with pets.

I know a Jaxon, his arl fella is of Nevis descent so maybe it's from there ?

kids I know of ...

Milo >> Tweenies that pal.
Anakena >>apparently after a beach they stayed at on Easter Island
Ocean >> Indian lad my lad used to kick footy with
Sage

mine are Olivia, Jack & Alfie.

I don't get naming the kids the same as the dad either, and middle names are just a waste of ink on forms, sis in law now seems to use her christian names but not surname incl her full 1st name that nobody ever uses (Jacqueline), some use them & make it sound double barrel.

the simple explanation is ... delusions of grandeur.

Saw a kids football match yesterday and couldn’t help but hear the array of names being called out..... Henley, Lincoln, Hartley, Brodie..... and others too.
Whatever happened to jack or tom ? Why is there a need to empty a bag of scrabble letters on the floor to name your child these days.

Sure you weren’t at the rugby union? Sounds a bit tory that.
