Living abroad where there is no dependency on Russian energy, so thankfully still very cheap bills. That said, am back in the UK at present and parents will be struggling soon. Barely enough money in the household as it is, just enough to get by with bills, food and mortgage, and really am quite concerned about a cold winter coming and there literally not being enough money available to pay the for energy costs. Doesn't help that my younger, 29-year-old brother is living at home and contributing £0 towards anything at all because he's a loser who refuses to work.

it's not healthy for you or your home too.

the whole 'we're not using it' etc is proper middle class privilege, imagine saying all that to someone who can't really afford to use it much
I understand that loads will struggle with the higher cost and I sympathise with them but growing up we were pi55 poor and sometimes we couldn’t have a fire as we had no coal or whatever… I made an agreement with myself years ago that as long as I could help it I’d never be cold in my own home

Increasing number of blokes wear shorts in public these days - many of them ill-advisedly. They must think they're on holiday all the time.
Presumably they have the heating on all day at home. It seems a bit wasteful.
Here in Auchterhardy we are used to going about in woollens and macs because of the constant cold and damp. And that's before we even leave the house.
I wear shorts all year round, I’m currently sat in shorts and t shirt on my sofa, no heating been on today yet and I’m going out tonight so it probably won’t be on today

I'm thinking it may get cold enough to break out the winter duvet in a couple of weeks or so, and then it might be time for some heating. But at the moment it's still shorts weather in the daytime at least. It's over 19c in my flat so no heating required.

My wife keeps putting it on to dry clothes at the moment and it's driving me round the bloody twist, but I cba with the rows if I say anything.

I'll just bloody bankrupt myself instead.

Suppose it depends a lot on where you live. 18 degrees again today, so we're still hanging clothes out on the line down here.
