Where do we go from here?

So, we are 17 games in and for our standards, with an awful points total of 18.

Putting those 17 games behind us thus far, all the injuries, the decisions, the ifs and buts... what would you be happy with from this season?

Would you favour an excellent 2nd half in the league over an exit to Sporting in Europe? Or would you be happy just to get away from the relegation zone, get a mid-table finish, and have some fun in Europe and hopefully have an extended run there?

Of course, suddenly rising up the league won't be a given. What I don't get is this thing about playing good football - I want us to play in a better style, and today for example, we played some good stuff and it was no co-incidence that that was when we were at our most dominant. However, the Everton of the past 2 or 3 seasons would have nicked games like this today with a better finish - for example, Yakubu being a bit sharper to latch onto Saha's ball. We were robbed in terms of 2 awful decisions, but that little edge, be it a winning mentality or whatever, isn't there.

The positive side is however that there are signs that we are getting back not to our best, but to a better level. I just pray we can get 3/4 points from the next 2. If we don't, then I really will start getting worried.

Championship?

As much as it would be easy to mock that kind of talk to say we're too good to go down and we will start to pick up points soon.

Its an ever increasing struggle these days to do that and the table doesn't lie.

If Moyes and the players ever start to think that they aren't gonna go down and dont need to bother fighting against it we will be in trouble.

After 17 games it can. After 38, it doesn't.

Ok so when does it stop lying and start truthing?

18 games? 20? 25? 30? 37?

Bet you anything nobody here would of predicted that after 17 games we would of been 1 point above relegation.

But we are.

So simply saying we wont go down and will pick up points is being awfully short sighted.

After 38, as I said.

And I'm not saying we will definitely pick up points. I expect us to though. Any talk for relegation is ridiculous at this stage. That's not me being arrogant, that's me being realistic.

no sense in crying over what might have been, that being, points dropped against lesser opposition at home, and let's not forget trips to Hull City and Burnley, and all said, it's been pretry crap thus far, although the list of injuries must be taken into consideration, and I don't think all that Lescott nonsense in the summer that dragged on did anyone associated with the club any favors. No need for any relegation talk, I'm sure that won't happen, but stranger things have happened, but I can't see us in Championship league next August, I mean come on.

At least a straight forward tie with Carlisle coming up, all respect to the Cumbrians but that tie for me seems pretty academic, so no need for round three nerves, but league matters, need a kick up the ass. :@

No fear of being beaten by Beach Balls at Sunderland, it's too cold for that, just hope no 'belters', throw a reindeer on the pitch in Howards direction.

Realistic? Completly dismissing relegation when we are point off it 1 game short of half way isn't being realistic in the slightest.

When will it become a realistic possibilty for you? Like i said, i bet no one would of said we would realisticly be in this postiton now back in August. But we are, and sticking our heads in the sand and going lalalalalala we will survive is very dangerous.
