Where is all the money Gone

Hibbo76

Player Valuation: £150k
Finishing 6th last season netted EFC 7million, with the TV money every club recieved this year in excess of 30million, where is the money gone?

DM complains we cant compete with the big spenders but where has the 37million pounds gone (minus 4 for jags)

I get the feeling from that interview that we are going to make one BIG signing in stead of a bunch of 2-5mil guys.

“I have got the ability to make one good signing and there is also the facility in place to bring in a couple of loan deals.

“But when I make this signing, I have got to be really sure he will be an improvement on what we have got here. I want to get that main business out of the way before I starting looking at loan deals.”

Id like to think he will make a BIG signing but he seems to dither so much in the transfer market that it will shut before he actually gets round to making any kind of enquiry!

From Wilpedia:
Sky's monopoly was broken from August 2006 when Setanta Sports was awarded rights to show two out of the six packages of matches available.

Sky and Setanta paid a total of £1.7 billion, a two-thirds increase which took many commentators by surprise as it had been widely assumed that the value of the rights had levelled off following many years of rapid growth.

Overseas television rights fetched £625 million, nearly double the previous contract.

The total raised from these deals is more than £2.7 billion, giving Premiership clubs an average media income from league games of £45 million a year from 2007 to 2010

Interesting. I was also trying to get my hands a copy of the Deloitte Football Money League report but the stupid thing won't open.

So, were we getting nearly 30mil a year before? and now it is up to 45?

I also noticed the DishNetwork moved FSC into their top package now. It was in the middle one about a year ago when I signed up.

Personally I think what Moyes is saying is "Yes we want players like Torres more than we want players like Nugent, but we can't afford to spend over the odds for these players."

I also think his valuation of Nugent was right and Pompey have more money then sense. Koumas? 5.5million? to Wigan? great move for him, bollocks. I also heard that Richardson is off to Sunderland for 5.5 on a 45k contract, again bollocks. What Moyes has is a great side with players who want to play and not spend. Carsley could have gone for more money, as could Yobo, Arteta and Cahill.

If we don't sign anymore players I won't be disappointed, clubs are spending for the sake of spending at the moment. Manure for instance, do they need those players they are signing? Some people may have their noses pushed out because of it.

We also have good youth coming through and they don't cost 10 million quid. Some may say that they are not going to make it, well I would sooner have Vaughan and Anichebe then Smith and Nugent. Why? Because they are not coming here on an over-inflated transfer fee. They have been brought up through the ranks and we are reaping the rewards.

To that idiot who reckons our club has lost its ambition, I say what a load of [Poor language removed]. We have one of the best youth setup's in the country, producing some great talent. While Liverpool are buying Spain's throwaways, we are developing football at grass roots level, and for me that is the better solution.

We also have a state of the art academy in production and the possibility of moving to a much improved stadium.

Our squad is good, we have cover for almost every position, and while we may not have a whopping squad like Liverpool, is that a bad thing? 3 or 4 changes each week in the Premiership has not won them the title. We have a consistent side out each week, and it leaves those on the sidelines chomping at the bit to get out there, which again is a good thing.

So where has all the money gone? Who knows, but I like to think we have invested it back into the club for the long term and not spend wildly on delicious treats that make us feel sick 10 mins after eating them.

If you gave EFC a million pounds to open a restaurant, they'd come back after midnight with a portion of soggy chips and no money left.

[Poor language removed] disgrace. If we didn't have a good manager, I don't know how bad I'd feel.If they are putting money towards a stadium they should [Poor language removed] tell us.If we get a load of injuries - eight or nine, next season we are totally [Poor language removed].Looks like a load of crap for next season.

Where is this transparency promised to everton fans about the state of our finances?

Next season Man city, Villa, Blackburn, Tottenham, the big four, newcastle, Reading, Portsmouth, West Ham are all poised to overtake us.

What do Everton do. Buy a crap player and say we can only get one more.

Even if it was Ronaldinho I wouldn't be happy. But it'll probably be Jason [Poor language removed] Roberts.

Wishing we didn't finish in europe now. Cant see how it will help the long term finances of the club. but if Bill Gates bought Everton we still would have [Poor language removed] all, comparitively, to spend next transfer window, thanks to the magic of everton football club.

Before anyone jumps down my throat - I've supported this club and only this club, all my life. My dad took me to Goodison as a nipper and I have been going on and off since. Me and my family have put money in their bank account.

So blue bill, Where the [Poor language removed] has the money gone? Why at the most pivotal moment in Evertons history, with the smallest squad in the prem and faced with european football and a chance to make a splash in europe and cement our position in the top six have we totally failed to back the manager financially?

If we do well, in europe and in the prem next season, which is frankly unlikely, it will be in spite of the financial backing moyes has recieved.

Money is no guarantee of success in football. But a total lack of money can guarantee failure.
