Where is all the money Gone

Great post Ghost I feel better already. Always need quality over quantity and Davey admits likewise. Just see Spurs moving forward in the near term and perhaps Villa with the new signings.

Just to add my two penneth, it's perhaps worth remembering that not all clubs splashing the cash will be doing so with their own money. Remember under Peter Johnson we regularly spent big and accrued a blooming great overdraft as a result. As I've repeated several times in this thread, we're not party to the facts so lets not jump to conclusions.

that's one of my major issues Wayne. Why can't we know the facts? The club wouldn't have any money without the fans. why can't we know the state of the finances, or if we are building a sum of money to facilitate a new stadium? Unless this is part of some transfer strategy to get prices down.

Everton fans are always treated like mushrooms. Kept in the dark and fed on [Poor language removed].

Because if we knew, then every club out there would know our exact financial strength and have us over a barrel.

would you:

pay £6m for nugent?

pay £5m for koumas?

pay £8.5m for reo coker?

pay £5m for chopra?

pay £5m+ for richerdson?

etc............

me no chance keep it up moyesy you are doing a grand job. but if you answered yes to all these then i think wigan need some supporters!

we have the money but why pay silly [Poor language removed] prices when you allready have a squad that can get you 6th in the prem. bide youre time and they will come.

I don't agree with you leonbil and I personally find your negativity embarassing. Because it should have been you and not me that got that title last year from that heap of [Poor language removed] that Garry calls a forum. :)

no I think Moyes is right not to pay those prices.

I'm beginning to think I should not bother posting on this forum if people don''t listen to what I say.

I don't want us paying over the odds for players.

But why can we only afford one more decent signing ?(unless this is a clever transfer ruse)

Lets not get personal.

I can see the positives in moyes parsimonious approach, but I fail to see the positives in our apparent, lack of financial resources.

I fail to see how it is a plus point going into europe with the smallest squad in the premiership. A majority of clubs rotate larger squads in europe. Chelsea reduced their size last season (to about 27 or so players) and paid the consequences in the league.

We currently have 17 outfield players on our books that have played more than the odd game in the first flight.

This is not enough for the premiership let alone europe. Perhaps I should be positive and say - no, one more signing and its plenty. We'll finish in the top six and win the UEFA Cup.

But it goes against everything the modern game has shown recently.

One or two players is simply not enough.

I know we like to see youth players coming through - but Moyes has always been cautious of blooding youngsters - maybe this season we will finally see something of Boyle, Da Silva, Vidarsson and the new signing Lukas Jutkiewicz. But I think it realisitic to say they won't all prove themselves at the top.

It seems Moyes' hand is being forced unduly by a sorry state of finances. I can't find anything positive about this, at this important juncture.

It is a great positive that we have players coming through the youth system. and that ours is one of the best in the world. That training grounds and facilities have improved and been invested in.

I'd just like to see Moyes backed more substantially by the board so we can acquire some players- to help us this season.

Any other club would be looking for players with european experience right now.

Finally, it is a positive that the core of the squad has strengthened and that some of the stragglers and dead wood have moved on (with respect to their efforts in the past).

LeonBill, if we get to the start of the season in the same situation then voice your concerns. Lets wait until the transfer window closes so we can deal in facts rather than guessing all the time.
