....many outside of Everton will be understandably underwhelmed by these signings, James and Doucoure did not set the world alight last season.

Whilst it’s great to see high-profile new faces, we have to do our talking on the pitch and we’ve got to improve lots to be at the business end of this league.
Absolutely, it has to work on the pitch but we are making the right noises is what I mean, Ancelotti isn't here to play mid table football, the process has begun to move up a level, with any luck.

Keys trotting out the old “can he do it at Stoke on a wet Tuesday?”, cliche about James. Then says we should sign Troy Deeney because he’s a “proper bloke” lol lol lol

OK

Don't think West Brom or Villa have a first choice keeper yet so there's 2 for a start.

Then there's Newcastle, Southampton, Palace, West Ham and Brighton. I'm sure if we brought any of their first team keepers in to replace Pickford there would be uproar on here, despite the fact everyone hates him. So that's seven.

Chelsea Haven't got a replacement yet and even you said he was worst in the league, so that's eight.

People aren't sure about the French lad Fulham have loaned and Sheffield Utd have just paid £20m for a 22 year old, who I actually quite like and wouldn't have minded buying, but some would say they're still taking a risk with such a young keeper..

Pickford is nowhere near worst in the league mate but he's nowhere near top either. We need better when we can afford it.

Heaton, Dubravka,
Disagree with a lot of that, but I do agree that he needs replacing.

Who do we bring in?

Would you want any of the keepers I mentioned in my previous post?

Ignoring long term value etc; I would have any one of Dubravka, heaton (assuming return to fitness) Randolph, Fabianski, Guita or Ryan ahead of him without any hesitation

OK mate. Personally I think it's ridiculous to bring in any one of them as a replacement for Pickford. I really think you are letting your hatred of the guy cloud your judgment.

Best leave it there.

Anything worse than Top 8 should be considered a massive failure this year. We now have the players and the manager to compete. We really should be achieving Top 6, and I'll be disappointed if we don't manage to do that, but a pass mark is Top 8.

2021/2022 with a further clean out and adding in another 3-4 players and hopefully keeping Richarlison, then top 4 should be a realistic aim.

both far superiors - data / stats back it up, especially Dubravka. Agreed - Parked

Allan, Rodriguez and Doucoure have trains 4-5 times with their teammates.

I reckon Doucoure gets a nod, maybe Allan, but wouldn’t be surprised to see the two Foreign imports being on the bench.

Expected really. He's part of the Fat Sam brigade, the football old boys school who'll never forget or forgive what we did to Allardyce. All I remember is him smirking on the touchline as we paid him £9m for 6 months work. Nice little retirement pressie.

Slowly but surely they are being replaced by younger "experts" and I think they'll be more receptive to a change in the hierarchy. Not sure the media in general will though.

Its crazy as much as I love our 3 new signings I just cant get optimistic over the season.

Dont know if its because I know I cant get to GP or the fact I dont rate our strikers/wide players at all outside of Richarlison but feel as if the season will be a bit of a slog.

Maybe if we bring another 1-2 in I'll feel more confident but still cant see us challenging for Europe at present when clubs like Arsenal & Spurs have Aubameyang, Kane etc.

It's our defence that worries me. Not enough pace at right back and Holgate being out is a blow. Hopefully we can address these two issues before the window shuts. I will optimistically say we will be top ten at worst and 7/8th at best.
