If you're not impressed by a Messi highlight video then you're not going to be impressed by any highlight video ever lol



Can't believe that his career is coming to an end and there's even a debate as to who the best is, the guy does things no one else can do.

In terms of natural talent yes, in terms of overall career. no.

His handball goal is irrelevant in judging him though, don't know anyone who uses that to devalue his talent.

I agree, what I mean is without winning that World Cup, which people view as him winning for Argentina, I doubt he's in this tier and not in the tier below with Cruyff, Ronaldo, etc.

I didn't say I wasn't impressed by him, he is obviously one of the most talented players ever. I said I was watching a random youtube vid of his 50 best goals and several were freekicks no better than Baines has scored for us!

I just think it's lame if you have to include "decent" free kicks in a top 50 goals compilation is all.
 

I guess that was the ammunition I was using to say I think Diego was a better player.

Everyone will have their opinions and we can argue until the cows come home but I doubt either of us will change the others' mind.

Maradona but mainly for the impact with Argentina

Won the 86 WC and a scudetto? for Napoli by being virtually unplayable for long periods of games that I recall. Up against some of the best hard arsed defenders ever in his time too in Italy and still bamboozled them even when they were trying to kick the living sh*te out of him on a weekly basis.

For being simply brilliant, and over long periods of time, I cant choose between any of the others!

Indeed, people use Portugal's Euro win to support Ronaldo despite him scoring two goals all tournament and being subbed off in the 25th minute of the final.

Is a not unreasonable argument - Best was exceptional in a time when fullbacks like Ron 'Chopper' Harris got away with sheer violence at times.
