He'll play in the centre of a back 3 with Coleman to the right and Godfrey to left. Iwobi and Myko will be wing backs. Coleman and Godfrey can then cover the full back positions when the wing backs push up. We know this is what Lampard likes + how we will line up.

Do we risk keeping Mina and prioritise getting the likes of Gomes and Gbamin off the wage bill?

Honestly not sure, but a run of Mina/Tarkowski at the back would give me a lot of confidence about staying clear of relegation.

Williams, Ashley and Keane, Michael.

Brought in from a bad PL team, "better than we have" and in two years we realize they aren't actually any better

Pardon? The argument is, will he come in and be a starter?????????? What are you even on about. Both of the above players came to Everton and were first choice.

I'm just not even to the point that he automatically plays

100% he starts. he isnt top drawer but he is alot more solid than the marshmallows we have

Just not sure that's true

He is first choice, 100%, you'd have to tinfoil hat to think otherwise.

Everyone you sign starts out as first choice. By January we'll be asking the question again.

Maybe it comes from keane playing well for 1 game in 4 but I agree with you I cant understand where they are coming from. Keane can put the ball out over the sideline trying to make a cross field pass 3 times in a row. He is woeful and mistake prone for a premiership defender. His 1 good game in 4 is typical for the decline of our club and the quality of our players. I would sell if given the choice. I have no idea how much he would go for. 10 to 14 mill?

His ‘good’ game is just what used to be known as average. If we’re dig in deep and he hears some balls away, makes some blocks, and kicks clearances then this is described as ‘good’

Lescott used to be able to take down high balls under pressure, beat his man, then turn attack into defence. Jags likewise, one on one was unbelievable. Stones was brilliant in possession. All the names I mentioned could find a pass into midfield under pressure absolutely no problem and all could do in their sleep what Keane does in one of his ‘good games’. The difference is that was their minimum baseline not their max performance.

The rest of the time they weren’t going around lashing it into their own net most weeks.

In fairness you only know this in hindsight, so how about we wait and see how Tarkowski does rather than writing him off before a ball is kicked

We'll see.

We paid a fortune for Keane because he looked very good in a Burnley side. So good, he kept Tarkowski out their team.

We'd be foolish to assume Tarkowski comes in, with only top flight experience from being at Burnley and definitely improves us.

People forget how good Keane looked at Burnley.

Remember? You say he's timid etc after we've Everton'ed him, but at Burnley Keane was a proper defender wasn't he who "excels in: aerial duels"

The reaction to Keane signing.

The vaults are brutal, but they are just.

You're supposed to learn from past mistakes.

And fwiw Godfrey also falls into that category and it wasn't hindsight for me.
