wha? for crying out loud, how many centre backs do we need?

…obviously it’s dependent on who leaves. From what has been reported, Mina is available for transfer & a number of posters are suggesting Branthwaite is going on loan. We are linked this morning with the Brazilian CB playing in Italy.

Often a new Manager builds from the back and looks for strong CB pairing in the first instance.

ok. i think it all hinges on Mina, if the backroom staff give him a good seeing to regarding his injury problem, that`ll sort it either way. i really hope he stays - we need a beast at the back and he seems a great lad for the dressing room plus more monies for additions further up the pitch.

…as I have said previously, if he stays I wouldn’t be surprised if Mina is a lot more robust next season and I don’t think that will have much to do with the medical staff.

We'll see.

We paid a fortune for Keane because he looked very good in a Burnley side. So good, he kept Tarkowski out their team.

We'd be foolish to assume Tarkowski comes in, with only top flight experience from being at Burnley and definitely improves us.

People forget how good Keane looked at Burnley.

Remember? You say he's timid etc after we've Everton'ed him, but at Burnley Keane was a proper defender wasn't he who "excels in: aerial duels"

Thank you for telling me what I've always said about Keane... I don't understand where any of the quotes you've posted there go against my comment of "his timidness, his reactive playstyle, his lax style"? You're vaulting me saying Keane is good at the grock stuff, which I have always said? None of those quotes make him not timid, not reactive & not lax.

Danny, that was reaching even for you.

He's dancing around in flip flips mate counting the days until he's a free agent.

I'd be amazed if Everton was able to get shut of him for anything before then.

Keane first with Branthwaite second. Godfrey and Holgate are not centre backs. Neither can head the ball and neither are tall enough to impose themselves. Maybe get away with them both either side of Tarks - but I'd sell them both.

Godfrey should at least get a string of games out of blocks, in a two
but want to see Lampard go with his favored three, which Godfrey probably suits better.

Would like to see Keane moved on
Braithwaite as backup to JT
A RCB to partner JT and Godfrey
And Holgate as backup to ? and Godfrey

If it's 2 at the back, them it is Mina. Unless we sell him. Then I would go Godfrey.
If 3. It is Holgate and Godfrey either side.
Sort the midfield out this summer and see how they go as a defence. Then if needed, improve that next season.

Holgate. Don’t rate Godfrey as a centre back.
I do wonder why people rate Godfrey so highly.
He’s been a bit of a disappointment to me .
His positioning is suspect and his aerial ability is woeful especially for a centre back.
He is capable of creditable performances at Left back but has been largely unexceptional at CB.
You can’t have a CB who can’t head the ball.
I much prefer Holgate andI think Lampard appears to also.
