He is capable of creditable performances at Left back but has been largely unexceptional at CB.
You can’t have a CB who can’t head the ball.
I much prefer Holgate andI think Lampard appears to also.

I agree. He is good filling in at full back and I will also have him as back up defensive midfielder. Think he started his career in that position but could be wrong,
 
I honestly wish some of you would watch some old footage of Lescott Jags Distin Heitinga Stones in their primes for us and then come back and still say ‘Keane is a good defender’ ‘Keane is decent on the ball’.

The bar really is set very low these days isn’t it.

I think that's his weakness. His positioning on set pieces so he gets caught when going to head the ball. I think he can head it but he gets caught on positioning and looks a second too slow.I dont think people rate him highly now. They might rate his potential and I would be of the opinion he can make it as center back with someone decent beside him. He has pace, can play with the ball, is aggressive, strong. Keane and holgate will never improve us. Ever.
 

What I think is going to happen: we’ll sell Mina, sign one more and play a back 3 most of the time.

But out of those options I voted for Godfrey because I think he has the most potential and he would compliment Tarkowski well. But if those are the options going into the season Holgate should get the first crack. He earned it towards the end of last season. Godfrey has a ton to prove at this point. Keane’s already been discussed a lot in here, so I’ll just say I strongly believe that we won’t take a step forward as a club until he’s mostly out of the rotation. His fragility is an absolute game killer.

Maybe it comes from keane playing well for 1 game in 4 but I agree with you I cant understand where they are coming from. Keane can put the ball out over the sideline trying to make a cross field pass 3 times in a row. He is woeful and mistake prone for a premiership defender. His 1 good game in 4 is typical for the decline of our club and the quality of our players. I would sell if given the choice. I have no idea how much he would go for. 10 to 14 mill?
