Who Stay’s, Who Goes

IF we go down then at least in football terms the bomb has already detonated so almost all of them can go.

Actually, that stands regardless. Branthwaite and Gordon are the two that immediately spring to mind to stay. Most of the rest can go.

Players who will leave
Pickford
Mina
Godfrey
Allan
Iwobi
Doucoure
DCL
Richie
Delph

Players to get new contracts
JJ Kenny
Begovic
Coleman
Davies

Keep your chin up lads it gets better from here on in ?

Slash and burn baby, Chairman, CEO, any of the players we can get the right money for, all the out of contract players and the jobs for the boys crowd amongst the coaching staff. If we go down that should happen as soon as it can possibly be done. If we stay up, it will need to be done progressively in stages. I would keep the manager and DOF, regardless of what division we are playing in next season, they have to be given a chance to prove themselves.

Either way, the first thing we need to do is resist the temptation to offer new deals to the players who are out of contract in the summer. The CEO should be gone in the summer as well and Lampard and Thelwell should be allowed to review the backroom staff, the jobs for the boys lot, and decide which of them, if any, should be kept. In an ideal world I would like the chairman to step down if we are relegated, but, I'm sure he won't and I don't think Moshiri has the appetite to force him out just yet. While we are on the subject of Moshiri, I think we are stuck with him until the new ground is built, he I'll then sell up and sling his hook, I just hope he doesn't bankrupt us in the meantime.

Sorry for the rant mate, but, you did ask.

I'd be up for selling the entire squad. Liquidate the club and give us all a split of the money. Let us live the rest of our lives happily.
I’m thinking this way myself.

Everton should be spared the ignominy of playing lower league football, so liquidate as soon as relegation happens then everyone’s happy.

The possible only benefit of relegation wull be wholesale changes, heres a question... do you need a better squad to be promoted or too avoid relegation?

I'll break down my prediction of what would happen. Don't read it if you don't want nightmares.

They'll sack Lampard as a scapegoat, but they shouldn't. We'll end up with a Wilder or a Dyche type.

Pickford goes to a fairly good team. Begovic stays. Lonergan and Virginia who cares, both leave. We sign a new #1 on the cheap/free.

We build the team around a defence of Patterson, Godfrey, Branthwaite/Keane and Mykolenko. Mina goes, and hopefully someone is stupid enough to buy Keane and Holgate or they'll both stay. Kenny gets a new deal for the sake of depth due to the mass squad exodus, and Coleman and Nkounkou stay as backup. Little change here.

Midfield is less obvious. Delph and Allan both leave. Doucoure almost certainly gets bought by a lower Prem side. VdB goes back to United, Alli gets let go on a free, and Gylfi obviously leaves too. We're stuck with Gomes as nobody will buy him. Iwobi will stay due to a lack of suitors - wouldn't be upset about this if he's played in a midfield 3. Gbamin will come back in and be a nice surprise unless CSKA offer to buy him. Davies of course stays.

Out wide, Gray, Gordon, and Townsend all stay.

Richarlison, Tosun, Simms and Kean all go. Due to injuries and a poor season, nobody meets the asking price for DCL and he stays. Dobbin gets more time on the pitch. Rondon stays for another season and sees his contract out.

Overall that likely leaves us with; Begovic, Patterson, Coleman, Kenny, Godfrey, Branthwaite, Keane, Holgate, Nkounkou, Gomes, Davies, Gbamin, Iwobi, Gray, Gordon, Townsend, DCL, Dobbin, Rondon. With 4 cheap signings. 1x keeper, 2x CMs, 1x winger.
I think this is pretty realistic, and to be honest not that terrifying. I agree the chances of DCL moving are maybe decreasing - if no one will meet a decent price then we are as well trying to rehab him and get him firing to drive the price back up. I think we'd want to keep a hold of Simms for the Championship, he could develop well there. Obviously in an ideal world we'd also get Gomes and at least one of Keane / Holgate out the door and off the wage bill but it should still represent a good slashing of the wages and a few quid in the door for the likes of Pickford and Richy.

I really hope they don't sack Lampard, we can't just keep going round in circles. Give him and his very strong backroom team a chance to work with the younger players, and use his contacts to get a few quality loans in the door to flesh out the squad.
