Who will be our next keeper?

Think it's worth giving Joel a chance personally. Still young and has improved in his rather unfairly scattered and scarce appearances. Also got the assets to be a more modern keeper than Howard, I.e.good distribution.

I can't understand why Joel hasn't gone out on loan. He should be out on loan this year and we should have signed a number 2 cheap on a free in summer. How will we know what Joel can do without a proper run of games? I'd rather we give him that run of games in the championship

It's not going to popular but according to the stats Howard is the third best keeper in the premiership this season. Everyone was quick to jump and say he had the worst stats last season, I think some people need to apologise to our number one keeper and praise him.

So you'd rather sign a less good number 2 keeper and play him instead if needed?
Why not just buy in a better no2 keeper that can oust Tim full time? Or perhaps even just an new number 1?

Ruddy has just been dropped - let see how we get on v them this weekend a win hopefully?

Think @Eggs has also mentioned him in the past. Fits the bill really, young, talented and English.

Apparently QPR came in with a £1m+ bid but Phil Brown turned it down despite the lads contract being up this season. I suspect that is still the case and he can go for free. I occasionally look at Southends match reports and he usually gets a positive mention although I understand he made one howler recently.

Koen Casteels. A young (24yrs) Belgian talent who doesn't play at Wolfsburg. He's really good (when they were young he was always chosen ahead of Courtois) and he doesn't play at his team, so maybe he wants to come and doesn't cost that much.

If his contracts coming up it might be worth a January bid then I'd have thought. Like I said I've read a bit about him myself and it's always favourable.

Howard isnt as bad a keeper as people make out on here. Not claiming his 6 yard box is getting pretty damaging to us though now.
