Who would you replace Lampard with?

I watch Man City a lot. Everton are my team.

It would be nice if the decision makers weren't tied to the will of the crowd but if we're being honest the main man is really just a match going fan himself at the end of the day.
Yeah I'd love it if owners didn't care for the fans who pay money to watch us play and are essentially the livelihood of the team, even more so for our case, where fans basically willed us into survival when it mattered the most, how it's always been.

I'd love it if they just hire whoever they want.

Y'all give yourselves way too much credit

...fans give themselves too much credit supporting their team...?

My man, you okay?
Fans basically willed us into survival.

Why even put a team on the pitch at that point eh?

Look I don't want to make anyone angry, it's just kind of silly to think that nothing can or should happen until the home games are so toxic that it has to happen. I know that is how we tend to do our business as far as sacking managers goes but I think it would be cool if one time the owner/Chairmen/President/CEO/DOF said "you know what this isn't it" and made a proactive decision.

I'm not saying it is time to do that, just that the idea that we can't change managers until after the "match going fans" decide we can is not how we should run the club. It won't change because the owner seems to have no clue, the CEO seems to have no power and the chairperson is actually just a fan himself and so he's not going to make a decision like that until the same point that all the other fans would. So that's where we are, just waiting for Goodison to make a decision.

Real fans support their club watching a lap top on on illegal stream mate. They are the ones whose opinion we should listen go.
The ones who never stepped foot inside the ground or have any real attachment to the club at all.

If the next manager is 30 games, a preseason and a transfer window in and I'm still not sure exactly what he's trying to accomplish long term I'll have a very similar level of concern.

Especially if it isn't really working.

I'm not trying to dig at you mate, but I'm not sure how long you've been a fan, but this feels very short termist to me.

You cannot realistically change that much in 1 transfer window and 30 games (the majority of which were played under enormous pressure of what felt like an impending relegation).

It used to be managers got 3 seasons. We have been on this managerial merry go around, and it hasnt helped.

And in fairness, it's obvious what Lampard is trying to achieve. He wants to make the side harder to play against, harder to score against, better off set plays etc. All of these things have seen marked improvements. There is a long way to go, and lots of further improvements needed, but again 30 games is not going to turn a side that could barely win a game into a top 8 team.

I cant stress this enough, but theres no great manager coming to save us if Lampard goes. Lampard had a poor track record and was the stand out choice last time.

I don't want Lampard gone. I just have no real faith that at the end of this year or next year or in five years that we'll be much better than 11th to 17th still if he's the guy for that entire time. I understand that it takes time to get the personnel right but along the way you can do things that suggest you've got an idea and a plan.

As much as people want to think we're solid now that is probably not going to last forever if we don't start playing in better areas. We give up too many shots and chances and that isn't because we're bad defensively. It is because we're bad tactically. We could beat the numbers, we wouldn't be the first and we won't be the last, but the numbers are simply that the teams that give up the most shots and chances concede the most goals. I know people like to come at the numbers and talk about "use your eyes" but I feel like that's just a very elementary understanding of the game? You can tell me I'm wrong.

For me the biggest thing we can do this season isn't scoring a ton of goals. It isn't finishing 8th (though it would be nice). It is very simply cutting down the amount of times that we go for 20 or 30 or 40 minutes of a match without sustaining any pressure, creating any chances or having any periods where the opposition isn't pinning us in our own third. Unless you're an elite counter attacking team, and we are not that, it is not sustainable to play this way.

So the question I have is can Frank get that turned around? I personally have not seen anything to suggest he can. I want to emphasize this is not anything but what I've seen. And while it might still be early relatively speaking I think at the same time 30 league games is enough to at least show the bones of it. I don't disagree with anyone who says we're more organized because we are, but I also think you can pluck about 50 managers from the various football leagues and get organization. What else are we getting? Today to me the answer is not a whole lot.

Why the Fxxx do we have this thread? Are there any indications that Everton Football Club are going to do an Everton and replace a manager because "some" "fans" think we are not improving and dishing out eye-candy? I think not... What's the point of this thread? If people want to bash what Lampard is doing, they are already doing it in the Lampard thread.

I repeat again: Why the fuxx is this thread still running?
