Who would you replace Lampard with?

You could tell from the first few games how Lampard wants to play. High press, dominate the opposition, pin them back, overlapping full backs. All the stuff that most of us want. However, we got tonked because the players weren't good enough. He soon realised it would be a fair few transfer windows before we could get that style of play to work. Crystal Palace gave us a bit of an idea. We pushed further up the pitch and it worked well, against a bottom half team which is fairly poor away from home. Hopefully we can get enough points to be safe with 7 or 8 games to go, and then try and implement this style again, but I for one agree with this approach while we rebuild, and confidence is fragile, not to mention we need 2 or 3 new attacking players before we can think about high pressing.

Fans basically willed us into survival.

Why even put a team on the pitch at that point eh?

Look I don't want to make anyone angry, it's just kind of silly to think that nothing can or should happen until the home games are so toxic that it has to happen. I know that is how we tend to do our business as far as sacking managers goes but I think it would be cool if one time the owner/Chairmen/President/CEO/DOF said "you know what this isn't it" and made a proactive decision.

I'm not saying it is time to do that, just that the idea that we can't change managers until after the "match going fans" decide we can is not how we should run the club. It won't change because the owner seems to have no clue, the CEO seems to have no power and the chairperson is actually just a fan himself and so he's not going to make a decision like that until the same point that all the other fans would. So that's where we are, just waiting for Goodison to make a decision.
Aha, the Watford model!

See it as the equivalent of a trawler, dredging the bottom of the ocean to catch the bottom feeders in its nets.

I feel sad I have to explain it.

The sad reality is the people now who are saying " why is this a thread? " will be the loudest voices in calling for him to be sacked when the times comes.

Like day turns to night, they will turn.

If for whatever reason he gets the bullet (looses 3/4 of the next games) I can honestly see them getting Martinez back.
If Lampard is sacked it’s cos we are at risk of relegation. The last mansger I want in a dog fight is Martinez
Aha, the Watford model!
say what you want about the Watford model - these owners have been the most successful in the history of the club.
