The Athletic say the aim is still to appoint a new boss before the next game on Saturday. And that basically Martinez will need to resign if he wants it.
Hopefully they move on from Martinez today and give it to someone who isn’t absolutely unsuitable for us in our current situation.

Just someone who isn’t completely divisive. Not even arsed if it’s Dunc, Rooney, Lampard, Kovac, Garcia, Favre, Potter, whoever. The vast majority will get behind any of them, basically because they’re not a proven failure or a washed up kopite. We’re not as difficult to please as some are making out.

I feel he’s being overlooked though due to Rooney links which doesn’t make sense thought he did very well with derby and first season with Chelsea developed mount , Abraham and tomori
Then Tuchel came in took then straight from 8 to top 4 and won the CL made him look like an idiot..he also struggled to tell the bigger players your not playing(admitted it in a podcast)

Tuchel is an elite manager who goes into clubs with already talented players and gets them playing lampard was overwhelmed second season, but still think he’d be very good for us

I think that's exactly what will happen.

The club knew in advance they'd be rebuffed for a short term share of Martinez.

Just because you say he is Martinez 2.0 doesn't make it so mate. Very different managers. very different circumstances too. Martínez got Wigan relegated. Potter has shown some promise in the league.

Besides that, Martinez didn't work out here but he wasn't an awful appointment. In terms of our appointments since Moyes, after Ancelotti he was probably the one that made the most sense. It's just to revisit him would be a mistake.
I'm not Potter's biggest fan but the idea he is anything like Martinez is absurd.

Brighton have the fifth-best defence in the league, and sold one of their best CBs in the summer and their other main defender/captain has been out for nearly 2 months.
