"Style and tactics are secondary" -- Allardyce is an option then I suppose.

I'm simply asking what have you seen this season in Monaco's performances to make you want Kovac.

I'll also throw in, what dont you like about Ruben Amorim based on his incredible success in every competition since becoming a manager?

i'm on record as saying Mykolenko has been part of really strong Ukraine youth teams and since breaking onto Kiev's team has been voted the countries best young player (now taken by Zabarnyi). He's also been rated across the media as "one to watch" in Europe since he was 18 as one of the best young prospects.

Thats all ive ever written about him and i think he'll be great next season after settling down.
Incredible success where? Portugal which is a 2/3 horse race every year.

His coaching career is like 18 months in total. He was barely at Braga. You don’t bring someone with such limited experience here.

And Kovac did fine at Monaco - it’s widely acknowledged that the board there have made a big mistake.

Unpopular opinion here, but I really have doubts about Kovac's quality.

I watch a lot of Bundesliga and Ligue 1 and his sides have never impressed me at all. Now, I'm not claiming to be a know-it-all here, football is a game of opinions and I am just sharing mine. But from what I've seen (based on the eye and not stats), his teams don't play good football on the whole and don't press (a key component of the modern game). He also is an extremely divisive figure and seems to cause consternation wherever he goes.

I know on face value his win% etc looks good, but these were massively padded by his time at Bayern. I haven't seen as much of his sides as I have of other coaches (Galtier for example) but I really don't get the fuss. I have asked others who watch a lot more European footy than I do and they all seemed to agree.

Now, I know he might still be the best of a frankly awful list of candidates, but I am surprised to see so many people lauding him on here. He might turn out to be great, but from what I've seen, I have my doubts ?
Of course Dwight Schrute watches the Bundesliga...

I think it's his time at Frankfurt that is the stand out. It's harder to not win things at Bayern than to win them these days. Made two cup finals (winning one against Bayern) kept them up in his first season after coming in late in the season and got them competing for Europe within 2 seasons. Frankfurt are quite a similar club to us, past success but have been poorly managed in recent times so on the surface he ticks all the boxes.

There is always the danger of chasing win loss records though I agree.

Second best? I strongly disagree, but that’s the whole point of opinions.

Boadu was a risk someone was going to make; hasn’t worked out, but €17m over 5 years isn’t stinging them like £28m for Iwobi is for us.

He’s a good manager mate, I’d love to say I’ll be happy for him to prove you wrong, but we’re never appointing him, sadly.

Remember, its the french league so that money is high relative to the league.

Just to pick out some names, Badiashile, Disasi, Caio, Tchouameni, Fofana and the forwards we mentioned are all up there in pedigree.

My suggestion is that the 'intensity' (i hate that word) from his 1st season had really eroded this season...similar happened at Bayern in the 2nd season.

I like that he hasnt managed in the premier league before and i reckon he'd probably do well until the rest of the season - my concern which is based on his last 2 jobs is that hed have second season syndrome and were back to square one.

Have you watched Monaco or Sporting this season?

Monaco just to give an opinion on Kovac.

Sporting in the champions league as you dont seem to know what hes achieved in Portugal. It was indeed a 2 horse race between Porto and Benfica.

Amorim took Sporting to their first league win in 19 years.

He's one of if not the best young manager in the world at the moment.

18 months in club management - no thank you

Add Kovac to the poll he would wipe the floor with Potter he would also wipe the floor with that Portuguese guy who has never coached outside Portugal.

There are about 2 people on here who don’t want Kovac - you are one of them. You don’t have the monopoly on knowledge of European management like you seem to think you do. You’ve also spouted nonsense about Mykolenko being great with no evidence whatsoever to support it.

Basically you like to be edgy for the sake of it.

He is a hard task master which is exactly what we need. What Benitez should have been effectively. I’d have no problem with him coming here and upsetting the Apple cart because I know we’d be comfortable mid table this season while he did it.
Mykolenko is/was a highly touted youngster for years. Whether he makes the step up is debatable but it's not as random a signing as some think.

He would have been ideal to back up Digne...
