Sacked Benitez after 6 months to replace him with a man who was sacked after 6 months. Unbelievable business.

I still think this;

However, I do wonder if perhaps Ferguson isn't as keen on the job as we'd think. His comments, again, about Everton wanting the best managers in the game, and perhaps lacking in his own confidence perhaps does rule him out. If he doesn't think he's got what it takes, then the board and players won't.

Out of every name linked so far, and assuming an issue with Ferguson - my own preference would be Lampard.

/legs it.
I think Dunc showed his limitations the other day tbh. Doesn't mean he won't go on to be a decent manager one day but think he needs to leave and take over somewhere personally.

I wouldn't be hugely against Lampard, he'd at least play 3 in midfield...

There is no evidence that any of the managers linked would improve this team, at least in the short term. My preferred choice is Kovac but it is going to be a risk no matter who they choose. Steadying the ship and staying up has to be the priority short term though. Just hope they get someone in fast and they can do that.
Is simply not true to say there's no evidence of that. There is evidence that some managers improve teams they manage and that evidence is lacking for other managers.

The evidence exists over several years that Favre, Garcia, Potter, Galtier, Gasperini, Conte, Simeone and others add something and their teams overachieve. Pochettino, Nagelsmann, Tuchel and Pep have done it in very different contexts. Some have done it at most, but not all, clubs they've managed.

That evidence doesn't exist for Lampard: both his predecessor and successor at Chelsea achieved significantly better results than he did. He had one season at Derby, where his team finished 6th. He's not the Messiah...

The players showed their limitations at least he got the effort out of them.Lets face it the player options he has at his disposal aren't good.
