Is it one of the problems, new managers having Dunc forced on to them? Silva seemed to let him put the cones out. Anchelotti seemed to want him. I doubt Raffa had much time for him (Not that I'm bothered about that). But it has to be difficult to have two assistant managers, are they working in the same way. Agreeing on how to do things?
Ancelotti has a history of being pragmatic and working alongside staff who know the club. I imagine Benitez didn’t want him at all. In my book it’s definitely better for the manager to have his own staff in who know how he works. If DF wants to manage Everton then he knows he has to go and get experience.

Even Graham Potter turned us down so we’re not likely to get a truly world-class manager at this stage. We are a mess right now.

I would go for Frank Lampard.

He got Derby County into the top 6 and into the play-off final, where they narrowly lost to Aston Villa.

He also guided Chelsea to the FA Cup final and got them a top 4 finish (at a time when they weren’t allowed to sign anyone) before Abramovich sacked him prematurely. The much lauded Tuchel is only one place above that now after spending a fortune. And Frank spent next to nothing on players because for most of his time at Stamford Bridge Chelsea were under the imposition of a transfer embargo. One other thing to note is that Frank Lampard fought tooth and nail to get Declan Rice from West Ham and the Chelsea board stupidly overruled him. Just look at how Declan Rice has turned out - he’s arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League right now. He’s certainly England’s best player. Recruitment mistakes have been a big problem for us and it seems that Frank knows his stuff in that regard.

I loved the guy as a player. He had a never-say-die attitude and he is Chelsea’s all-time leading goal scorer, which is a stunning achievement given that he was a midfielder. As a player he won everything there is to win at club level, including numerous Premier League titles, so he would immediately command the respect of the dressing room.

Much to the chagrin of most, Big Sam has been spoken of as a possible candidate. Mainly we are in such a perilous position and he has a great track record of keeping problem teams in the Premier League. As we know a loss up at Newcastle (which is highly likely) will take us to within a couple of points of the relegation zone, so we are very much a problem team. I was initially in favour of bringing him back in to do a rescue job, but I have changed my mind. Big Sam would not be a long-term option. He strikes me as a guy who wants to retire to Spain some time soon. He is in his late sixties, after all. And his style of play is dire.
No he hasn't.

That Lampard basically was told he had the job, he informed his staff members, and now they want more interviews

And that Moyes and Rangnick were both sure they had the job when Ancelotti got it.

Basically we are leaving people hanging and messing them around. If it's remotely true, it doesn't sit right.
The Moyes thing, for certain, has been around a while. He was pretty much preparing himself for the job in 2019. I don't know about Rangnick.

Now, I won't have a go there because frankly I didn't want Moyes in 2019 and we were all happy with Carlo. But yeah, there's a way to do business.

But we've done this with players under Moshiri's watch. People might not care but we were scum with Rooney in his second spell. Couldn't punt him out of the door quickly enough and showed no class in how they went about it. It's why I refused to take the club's side on the James issue.

Just don't believe stuff like this me, its stupid journalism, I mean how do they even know? Its also impossible to prove its not true either
David Ornstein is the most reliable out there. Just accept that there are journalists who do get told this information.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's 'stupid'.

Totally bonkers

Going to be like the Price is Right.... we'll start with Moshiri telling a few jokes, putting the candidates at ease before asking "£60m for Granit Xhaka?", then asking dolly dealer Baxendale to turn over a card for Sean Longstaff...

Bill K and Sharp will shout out "higher, higher" or "lower, lower" until a decision is made.

I mean I get they have to move on transfer targets quickly because of deadline day but this is a mess of their own making. They could have appointed any of these candidates a week ago. It’s a farce.
