Ancelotti has a history of being pragmatic and working alongside staff who know the club. I imagine Benitez didn’t want him at all. In my book it’s definitely better for the manager to have his own staff in who know how he works. If DF wants to manage Everton then he knows he has to go and get experience.
Yeah Carlo literally brought in 2 people I think (his son and one other coach). He was more than happy to work with the other staff because that's just what he's used to - big clubs that have structures in place. And he really rated Dunc

I heard for the final stage the candidates have to recite a poem on what Everton means to them. The first to make Bill tear up with club pride wins
Pereira surely at an advantage due to spending so much time in the Turkish bazaars. Plenty of material there for him to come up with some kind of Aladdin-themed poem where he swooshes through the streets of Liverpool on a magic blue carpet holding the Premier League trophy aloft.

David Ornstein is the most reliable out there. Just accept that there are journalists who do get told this information.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's 'stupid'.
I'd like to read Ornstein's actual words, as opposed to his words filtered through an Everton Twitter account, before I make a judgement on what he's said...

And just because you do, also doesn't make him 100% factual, like all journos
He's a very, very reliable reporter who gets his stuff from multiple sources.

It's not about wanting to believe him or not. He has a proven track record and good contacts.

Stuff changes, but I know for certain that he has earned his reputation from being right a lot of times. He won't usually say something unless he has it second-sourced.

You're speaking to a journalist now, btw.

That Lampard basically was told he had the job, he informed his staff members, and now they want more interviews

And that Moyes and Rangnick were both sure they had the job when Ancelotti got it.

Basically we are leaving people hanging and messing them around. If it's remotely true, it doesn't sit right.
Unless Frank has already got it, he’ll tell Mosh to do one if this farce carries on much longer

Maybe so, I just take things like that with a pinch of salt. No offence.

"Chaotic is one way of describing it. It's been a bit of a tricky time at Everton to say the least, but they appear to be drawing a conclusion on the search. Farhad Moshiri is flying into the UK to oversee the finalisation of this process.

"There is the latest round of interviews today. We know that Frank Lampard is still in the frame as well as Vitor Periera of Sky Sports News fame is in the frame and Duncan Ferguson is an option too.

"It's a huge decision for Moshiri to make. I'm sure he's got a lot going around in his head. Pereira has been in the frame at least twice before. He's been offered it in the past only for Everton to decide to go for Carlo Ancelotti before.

"Lampard did well at Chelsea, which a lot of people seem to forget, and at Derby. If Everton were to give him this opportunity, I'd be fascinated to see how he would get on. My information is they want to make an appointment before the window closes, so the manager can have some level of influence on last-minute recruitment.

"I think in this final round of interviews, they are going to mention targets they've been looking at and see whether the candidates are keen to bring them into the club and how they might work in the team so that if an appointment is made they can very quickly do some work before the deadline.

"It's leaving it late. It's flying on the seat of their pants at Everton, but they're trying to move in the right direction. They have a strategic review ongoing and a new stadium on the way in 2024. Hopefully for their fans, they can start to pull themselves in the right direction and away from relegation threat."

None taken, I don't have to operate in the world of transfer rumours and gossip.

But they are re-interviewing Lampard and Pereira today and giving Dunc a shot. So it's reasonable to think why the hell are they doing it.

Thanks, appreciate that.

If this were any other club, that would read as not that nuts.

The club machinery has been working on potential names, potential deals, and they want to see what these guys think. Deals take time, so why not look at ones that have groundwork in place considering the deadline is so close?

As long as they can say "no," if they think it's a bad move, then I think we're good.

However, it being Mad Eye Moshiri calling the shots, who knows?

"One very famous football club said to me two or three days ago 'whenever we have a problem we say 'what would the Everton board do because they always get it right?"
