Anthony Barry ... more jobs for the boys!

On a serious note I'm very optimistic about this.

1) he'll actually play 3 in midfield
2) bring a good team together to actually improve and coach the players we have

Just need the club to back him properly and you lot, the toxic fans, to stop being mean to all the managers we have.

"Lampard's points-per-game average of 1.67 is the lowest of any permanent Chelsea manager in the Premier League."

McNulty really went out of his way to force that in a few negatives there.

I mean, another angle could be;

In his first season in charge, despite losing a key player in Eden Hazard and operating under a club transfer ban - Lampard guided Chelsea to a fourth-placed finish, ensuring another UEFA Champions League campaign and his own nomination for the 2019/20 Barclays Manager of the Season award.

Do we have 3 midfielders ?

I disagree with a longterm appointment, and have doubts of Lampard at the helm. I am glad to see the names attached to what will need to be an above average backroom. Abstractly his youth centric experience aligns with what should be this teams invested approach for the coming years. And when you have a crazy owner I guess i'm thankful its just not Perriera or Mourinho.

But this is a very young manager with almost no experience in recruitment as in Derby he relied on Chelsea connections for new players, and at Chelsea was under a ban and with a board who almost exclusively decides transfer business.

Lampard has some basis for intrigue but the board needs a Director that extends and can overstep his own transfer wishes. In my estimation that should have happened before a manager hire ideally. Alas here we are, but it doesn't make a Director of Football any less necessary. Without that I could see more treacherous waters ahead of us.

One man can get us relegated though. What qualifications for the job does Lampard actually have apart from being a darling of the media.

At Derby he finished 6th a massive 20 points behind a bang average Norwich side. At Chelsea, he mismanaged a team that Tuchel then won the Champions League with.

Who did you want with the right "qualifications"
Genuinely. Who was the name that fitted?
