I am not a fan of Benitez but in the timeframe I spoke of he managed to win the Championship with 94 points. That shows how poor Lampard record is.

Then you look at Chelsea. Lampard is 13th of 13 managers under Abramovich in terms of PPG, Benitez is 6th and won the Europa League.

Benitez was a poor choice, Lampard is a terrible one.

Avram Grant has the best PPG of Chelsea managers, didn’t win a jot, in fact bottled a title race and a Champion’s League final to United, showing what an utterly pointless stat it is

Oh my word what have we done bringing such a poor manager in. Good god get a grip and at least qualify your nonsense with things like teams that get relegated year before should have a good chance of coming back up and losing best players (hazard) and transfer embargo etc etc. Just being selective in your facts really don't prove your point. I don't think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread but he's the best available at present and should command respect in the dressing room. I for one am at last looking forward to watching us again.

I genuinely don't know how you can't be pleased with this appointment. He was successful as a player as a manager got a team to a Championship playoff then moved to Chelsea where he got a transfer-banned Chelsea to 4th with largely unproven youngsters. Does he have weaknesses? Sure.

I guess the simple question would be, if you aren't content with this appointment who the feck would you rather have been appointed? In my mind, this is as palatable an appointment as they've made in Moshiri's entire ownership.
