People are right to laud Lampard for getting a club like Derby County to the Premier League play-off final. They’re also right to laud him for guiding Chelsea to a top 4 finish without being able to sign a single player due to their transfer embargo. He got them to the FA Cup final that season too.

BUT… has he got the requisite experience to arrest the seemingly terminal decline of a team that is literally losing every single week. Can he get arguably the worst squad in the league out of the bottom 5 when the likes of Newcastle and Norwich are now breathing down our necks and are spending a fortune in this transfer window? At this stage don’t we need a relegation specialist to do a rescue job? Someone like Big Sam but preferably not Big Sam. Let’s be honest: this is a very different job to Chelsea, albeit Chelsea had just sold their best player (Hazard) before Lampard had arrived and of course couldn’t sign anyone as I’ve already said.

I agree to an extent but we can’t keep putting in place short term managers ie Big Sam. We need to stay up this season (obviously) and then reset and rebuild for the future. Having a relegation specialist (as you call it) isn’t going to future proof us in this way.

Someone made the bizarre claim in an earlier post that because Lampard once voted for David Cameron against Ed Milliband that that should disqualify him from managing a Scouse club. I’m not bothered about people’s politics as long as they ‘get’ our club and ‘get’ our city. Anyway, Lampard did vote Remain to be fair. And he’s voted Labour in the past. He voted for Brown in 2010.

Religion and Politics do not belong in football. People like that need to get off their high horse. The problem is, there is a lot of them and they think everyone else thinks like them.

I'm more worried that people are even researching who or what Lampard voted for rather than people commenting about it.

We're not the worst squad in the league by a long chalk. We're somewhere in the middle. If it hadn't been for Benitez trying 4-4-2, playing players out of position and being unadaptable when we were clearly being overrun we wouldn't be in this mess.

Benitez gone, lampard in. Season starts now. Our squad isn't that bad, first 11 is good when fit. Absolutely boils my piss we sold Digne.
But ‘IF’ Patterson and Myko turn out to be very good players for us (I’m more confident about Patterson) then it could still turn out to be good business. (assuming we had to sell to get the two in of course!)

We don't have the worst squad in the league. Not even close.

Lampard can't do defending. The difference between Lampard and Tuchel was night and day.
Tuchel is the better coach who is renowned for being able to make teams defensively solid, so it's not a surprise that they improved under him.

However, that's not a slight on Lampard because what we've got to look at is his own abilities, which I think are more positives than negatives.
