"We'll give you the job Frank - but Duncan is your assistant."

"No thanks."

"Masseuse then?"

Something like that.

Ferguson staying is just cheque collecting. He has no ambition to become deserved manager it would seem.

As much as i love Duncan, we really need a complete fresh start with this appointment imo. There is also no getting away from the fact that he has worked with about 5 or 6 failed regimes (not his fault of course but he still has to take some responsibility) and if he ever wants his dream of Managing Everton to come to fruition in the future, he needs to break away and go and manage some championship clubs for experience. It will never happen if he doesn't flee the nest.

Rafael since the sacking.

Doesn’t even have the motivation to play with his woody, sad

What was the chat?
Said he got to sit down with Dunc on the train to ask some questions. Said he didn't agree with the choice of starting line up or formation & was told Duncs hand was forced because he didn't rate Mykolenko at all. Dunc said he wasn't sure what the meeting in London was about but knew his job was up for discussion. Said he didn't want to work under Lampard because he's been doing it longer than him & wouldn't stick around. Said the club was a mess too.
Doubt I've done the alleged convo justice with that summary but take it as you wish.

I just cannot see how he's sat down with a 'fan' he's never met before and give him some sort of exclusive look into his thought process for the Villa game, let alone slagging off an individual player to him....

I've just written a piece for the site, and to be fair to Lampard he started that 2nd season with 22 points from 10 games. They were right in the shake up. They post at Goodison if you remember, and got knocked off task, and ended up only getting 7 from the next 9 games. Unfortunately, at a Chelsea a bad 9 game run and you're out.

I still maintain, as an elite coach, I'm not sure hes quite tactically aware enough, and a good enough man manager to handle those egos. Its strange as theres a lot of the Moyes about him as a manager. Seems to have quite strict rules, that work for younger, good players, but when he has to show a little leeway to elite players then its not great.

The good news is for us, his weakness is not really an issue at all, and in all honestly even on a best case scenario will not be an issue for some years to come.
Only? That's more than we have got in 13 games.

But it was 7 from 8 games in the league, and 2 FA Cup wins before he was sacked. (Starting with the loss to us). 6 of the league games were in 22 days, with 3 away games and his home games being west ham who he beat, villa who he drew with and man city who he lost to.

Prior to that run of 8 games, he was unbeaten in 17.

In terms of a bad run starting with us until he got sacked, it's not even that bad. 10 games, won 4, drew 1, lost 5. We would be delighted with that right now.

Yeah can't see that. "No idea what I'm going to London for" doesn't square with being interviewed for the managers job. Imagine how surprised he must have been when he rocked up!
