I love Dunc but not sure I agree with him staying on again this time round. Always get the feeling he’s a bit of a comfort blanket for the players. We need a complete break from previous regimes. We don’t need someone in Lampard’s ear saying “no, honestly, Jonjoe’s a great kid. Put him in”. We need a ruthless, independent overview of this squad. Not sure we’ll fully get it.

Chelsea fan here, not sure how welcome but I've been lurking on the forum ever since the Rafael(who we hate just as much as you) sacking coz Frank was being linked to the job.. I just wanted to point out that for some reason Jacob Steinberg(the guardian writer) has seemingly always had it in for Frank. Didn't hear a pip from him for the first one and half year of frank's managerial stint but loved tweeting his opinions when we went on the poor run. Wrote something absurd like "Did a good job last year but there were a lot of caveats. Hard to remember any good performances this year.", when we went on a run that saw us batter Sevilla 4-0 away, hammer Leeds, Burnley and Newcastle, as well as beat United away and Spurs at home, all convincingly. After he got sacked, never missed an opportunity to get a dig in at Frank while singing Tuchel's praises. I'm not sure what it is(maybe just being a West Ham fan) that has him so wound up with Lampard.

Not really arsed about when the announcement is made, per se, but what confuses me is the fact that Vinny O'Connor has been at Finch Farm since the crack of dawn and hasn't confirmed whether Lampard is actually there o_O (unless he's been asked not to say anything by the club).

Remember when Keane signed and arrived to gangsta rap music in the back of a blacked out mercedes van thinking he was a G, little did we know he was a fraud at the time, wrong thread forgive me.

This is just weird, WTF is the point in delaying the announcement. We are a bizarre outfit
I think the announcement will be more than just 'Frank Lampard has been appointed first team manager' I expect that it will cover the recent 'strategic review' and will be a full explanation of who has been appointed int what positions and what their specific roles are within the management of the club.

The biggest positive of Dunc sticking around should be that the likes of Delph, Iwobi, Rondon, Tosun, Keane, Gomes etc don’t get another chance to prove themselves. He’ll be telling him to ship them out.

Ad hominems dont help. He wrote a bleak article and I agree he left out some mitigating arguments, but in general it was good to be reminded of a few things like not getting the players to work for him again. That kind of did Ole in as well.

Still, I think Lampard could do well, especially with some more backing from a seasoned backroom coach. I also think that the games you mentioned, he did very well as a manager.

Everything fall or stands with the number one question though: will he put Keane back in the next game? Then for sure he will be doomed. :) (Then again, if he manages to sell him today I will personally bring the phonenumber of my sister to Lamps)

Just saw that and tried to figure out what they are, door signs or locker signs?

I can’t imagine each coach would get their own office so just be locker signs or something.

He’s assistant to Lee Carsley at England youth level as well as Chelsea so he must have something about him. If you combine Cole and Baines then the two new fullbacks definitely have some quality to learn from
