Who's the best band you've seen live?

Best performance wise for me was Rush. Even when they were getting up there, the whole experience was absolutely flawless (sorry unpopular :(). Dream Theater are in a similar mould. Springsteen is a legend. Never a bad night but always a long night (though he may go down in my estimation when he plays Anfield). Simple Minds/Iron Maiden are personal favorites as well. Saw an earlier shout for Big Country. Sad day when Stuart Adamson passed....

Re. Springsteen ... he did 2 gigs at the Hammetrsmith Odeon in 1975 and didn't tour Europe again until 1981 - I was at the 2nd gig he did at the NEC in 1981 (the previous night Pete Townsend had joined the band on stage during the encore set), absolutely fantastic gig leading me to see him over 40 times in 6 countries. Driving home I had the car radio on and whatever I was listening to had the DJ waffling about Springsteen in an interview having praised an up and coming band from Ireland to do well ... named U2!

First gig for me was The Four Tops at The Empire about 69 or 70 (great time to be a Blue)!

Saw Dylan a couple of months ago (again) - long time fan, but it was disappointing.

Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden on one of his Saturday night gigs, just before Xmas, 8 years ago was brilliant.
Was that NEC gig 1981 the Sunday night ? , if so I was there as well.

bj - You will have been at the 1st of the two gigs at the NEC if you were there on the Sunday (7th June) - that was when Pete Townsend appeared as a guest at the end playing on Born to Run & Detroit Medley. I was there the next evening, Monday 8th.

Cheers, I don’t remember Pete Townsend turning up.

Answer is in the title for me.
An old mate of mine (sadly passed) was talking about walking out of some concert (can't remember which band) because it was too loud. He went on to say that The Who were always really loud but the sound was so crystal clear it didn't hurt your ears. I've never had the priviledge so couldn't comment.
