Re. Springsteen ... he did 2 gigs at the Hammetrsmith Odeon in 1975 and didn't tour Europe again until 1981 - I was at the 2nd gig he did at the NEC in 1981 (the previous night Pete Townsend had joined the band on stage during the encore set), absolutely fantastic gig leading me to see him over 40 times in 6 countries. Driving home I had the car radio on and whatever I was listening to had the DJ waffling about Springsteen in an interview having praised an up and coming band from Ireland to do well ... named U2!….i was fortunate to see Bob Dylan on a ‘going day’ but I think the best live performance I’ve seen has to Springsteen with E-Street Band at NEC in Birmingham in about 1977. Long time ago, I’ve seen him since but he was at his best that night.
AC/DCThe War on Drugs for me. Will go see them everytime they visit Ireland.
Who's the best live band you've seen?
Same band but at their best in '75 and '78 The Lamb and Wind & Wuthering tours. But I am a very old git.I've seen most of the big acts over the past 30+ years but nothing has come close to Genesis at Roundhay Park, Leeds back in 1987. They were flawless and on another level.
I've listened to Seconds Out and 3 Sides Live countless times as well as countless bootleg performances from that time on Youtube. I was too young to see Genesis at that time but I can only imagine how good it must have been to see them back then, especially with them introducing the vari-light for the first time anywhere.Same band but at their best in '75 and '78 The Lamb and Wind & Wuthering tours. Saw them in Milton Keynes. Hard Fi supporting. Was good. Not a big gig go'er, too bloody noisy...
But Green Day's American Idiot tour in 2005 was really good.
With Los Endos taking the roof off!I've listened to Seconds Out and 3 Sides Live countless times as well as countless bootleg performances from that time on Youtube. I've seen most of the top acts - legendary acts, but Genesis set the bar for me.
You know what? I'm just watching YouTube music videos on my telly and you've just inspired me to watch Genesis in Rome. One if my fave live shows. I'll just wait for Transmission to finish first though. With Los Endos taking the roof off!
I went to that Rotters gig, think it was 1980, I’d just seen them at the Reading festival and was blown away with how good they were.Once in Eric’s, the other one maybe in Rotters

Always thought the two albums with Blaze were under-rated......Sadly not, it was the X Factor tour when Blaze Bailey replaced Bruce Dickinson. 1995 I think?
