"Why Are Barcelona So Annoying?"

I'm not really concerned with how they're portrayed by the media or how they supposedly try to portray themselves, why does that matter? They're not even an English club. It's quite a step to find a club 'annoying' when they have absolutely nothing to do with the club you support in my opinion.

In terms of their style of play, I don't really see how that's a problem either. Everyone knows that any style of play is legitimate, it's pointless to describe one as more 'pure' than another. All you can do is favour one style over another from the point of view either of effectiveness or aesthetics. That's all dave has done on this point, he's just said that he'd rather watch a style other than Barca's. Personally I sympathise with his opinion to a degree, as well as the entertaining, creative side of their play, there is a huge negative aspect in 'keeping the ball'. Much of the time their play reflects this, you see a lot of neat passing, but it's never risky. The aim is always to pass to a teammate so that they can easily control the ball, giving their opponent almost no chance of intercepting. On occasion, this does make them really rather boring to watch.

Overall though, I have no problem at all with their style of play. They're simply a high level team with a certain way of playing, as we've seen this season, it can be beaten. For me they're just one of the top teams, any game featuring Barca vs another top side is going to be entertaining. I think more than anything, the people that think they have a problem with Barca actually have a problem, as usual, with football media and football fans. No one likes to read gushing praise time and time again, it's sickly and juvenile. Might be an idea to ignore all the commentary and just watch the game.

They are on the verge of having one of the best teams in decades. They COULD dominate European football for many a year. IF they sign Fabregas, that midfield is going to be unstoppable.

I dunno - the team they put out is not that different to the team that got ****ted by Madrid in the infamous pasillo game from a couple of seasons ago, Fabregas is going to have to be fitted in (since you would think the midfield will still be Busquets - Xavi - Iniesta) if he does sign, you would think that nearly everyone they play next season will try to do what Inter (and for that matter Espanyol) did against them, and the critical thing will be keeping Guardiola as manager.

They have produced the best teams. That is undisputed mate.

The problem I have with Brazil is the fact that people are still treating them like they're a samba side while under Dunga they've been more like stoke.

It's a lot like if everybody assumed Uruguay and Hungary were among the best teams in the world because thats how it was in the 30s and 50s.

It's the same thing that pisses me off about the RS. People judge them on their name and not their actual team.

All top teams in their league have this affect.. Bayern, Man U., OL, Inter.. Villa and Cesc are both spanish and grew up watching Barca... But even the players outside of Spain would have a stronger urge to play with one of the best "if not the best" team in the world...

It's natural for people to looks at teams who win alot as annoying... 95% of people in the US HATE Tom Brady and the Patriots

Not wishing to be pedantic, but Brazil won the World Cup in 1994 as well :)

Yes, and that's one of the reasons I hate Fifa and Brazil. It was clear to everyone they HAD to win that tournament, before it even started. I believe Holland was screwed big time in their match against them. But even before that I've never been a believer to what they preach. For one reason or another I've always felt inclined to cheer for their archrivals Argentina.

I actually agree with the thrust of the article. I used to be a great admirer of Barcelona, but they're just another Liverpool with millions of bandwagon jumpers and sore, sore losers - witness the sprinkler debacle after Inter had the nerve to beat them. And then the despicable abuse they hurled at Mourinho before the game had even begun, or the matter of the local police arriving at Inter's hotel to chat with Eto'o about his tax bill. Personally, I couldn't care less how badly Franco treated them if they're going to be so downright trashy.

Protection? From who? Are Fifa running some kind of rackateering?

Sorry mate, but just something I feel very strong about. Just like the way Uefa screwed Everton with the Villareal match. Maybe it's just me being paranoid, but just the way I feel about certain 'fix ups'.

Don't really care what anyone has to say on this matter, or agree or disagree with me, but I hate them with a passion.

Exactly. As I say, I can take them in small doses. They're mesmerising in the way they dominate possession. But that soon wears off and then you get critical of the build up play. I dont know, maybe it's because they're so good that the spectacle goes out of a game? I'm not sure it's that for me, though. I just dont think I can watch week after week of the stuff they produce. So elaborate, so measured. Unless Messi springs into life, it's like football by numbers. A bit unfair, I admit, but...

Well no point wasting energy on something you have no influence over.

To be honest, Holland have had 2 golden opportunities to stamp their own authority on football with a great team in the 70s. It all could have been so different.

Couldn't agree more, but with us Dutch there is always that self destruct button hidden somewhere, Argentina 1978 being somewhat different.

Well I can, because I enjoy football. It's not just about Messi. They have a very good keeper there who when called upon makes some great saves. They have 2 of the most skillful players in Spain in Iniesta and Xavi. Add into that the only player to score in 6 different competitions in one season with Pedro. They have a lad who scored over 1000 youth goals in Bojan, keeping out a 60m player.

If you go into a situation with cynicism, you tend to end up with a negative opinion. Perhaps change that eh? Unless you like being cynical, that case carry on.

slightly off topic, did anyone hear Keown moaning about barca trying to poach Fabregas? I'm hoping he said that with an almighty pinch of salt

I hope Cesc goes, one less playmaker for us to worry about when were up against Arsenal

If Arsenal claim that they have had Fabregas poached off them by Barcelona is the pot calling the kettle black. Barcelona should ask them nicely, and then say, right just give us him and **** you frenchie.
